STEVENAGE UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY NOTES OF MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 10 March 2015

INTRODUCTION

The Chairman, Neil Major, welcomed all to the meeting. Approximately 17 members attended. Neil made the usual announcements regarding health and safety and welcomed new members and guests.

After explaining the programme for the evening, Neil announced the following:

1. The Focus On for 14 April is “Blue”.

2. Congratulations to last month’s competition winners: Danny King, Ken Sullivan, Dave Baker, Paul Pettitt and Alison Pettitt.

3. Next month’s talk is about the Red Sea 2014, if you have photos from the Red Sea in 2014 and wish to contribute please let Neil know.

4. If anybody has any suggestions for future SUPS talks please pass them on to Neil.

5. Please can any members who have not already done so to pay their subs for 2015 of £20 to the Treasurer Dave Collins.

6. There will be a knockout completion in May. We need as many pictures as possible to make this a success so please can all members enter photographs. The maximum is six pictures. Pictures are displayed in pairs and a quick vote selects one to go through to the next round, eventually deciding between the final two pictures to find a winner.

To enter the competition upload photos in the usual way. For those who are not familiar with this goto the SUPS website http://www.sups-online.com and click on the “UPLOADS” link. You will need a Username and Password – contact Leigh Risbridger if you don’t have these.

7. Trips:  SUPS – Ken Sullivan has organised a trip to for Egypt 7-14 and 14-21 June. There are approximately 4 spaces for the first week and 5 for the second. Please contact Ken if you are interested in going.

8. In the summer the Arts Guild have invited us to display pictures for the Stevenage Festival in the Pi Bistro & Gallery at the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre. Please submit a maximum of 3 pictures, these may include photos from the past, including previous competition entries, but must be underwater photographs. They need to be uploaded in the usual way, before 31 March 2015, when a selection committee will meet to choose the pictures to be displayed. JPEG format is required initially but you may be asked to send a larger file if needed for printing. Focus on Black and White

TALK: Indonesia

Ray and Debbie gave an excellent talk about their trip to Indonesia in October 2014. The trip for 8 people was arranged through Scuba Travel and they stayed at the Kungkungan Bay and the Tasik Ria Resorts. The informative presentation set the scene with photographs of the resorts and surrounding area, then moved on to beautiful photographs of the amazing diversity of underwater life.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be on 14 April 2015 at The Arts Centre on Roaring Meg, Stevenage, commencing at 8.00 pm and will include:  The photo theme for the Focus On is Blue  A talk: The Red Sea in 2014
