Kempton New Church School Staffing Announcement: We are happy to announce the hiring of Bracken Brown, an alumnus of KNCS and Bryn Athyn College (B.S.). He will focus on teaching the sciences to grades seven through twelve. This is what he wrote, in accepting the job: “I look forward to joining your staff and to addressing the challenges of inspiring the next generation of thinkers and society members.” Bracken’s love of all things science is well known to many. He will start July 2015. Please join me in welcoming him back to KNCS. – Mark Wyncoll Thank you: Jordan, Becky, Ginny, Claire, and Vera thank you all for the abundant outpouring of support we have received over the past several weeks. We are fortunate to belong to a society of such warm and loving people. The Book of Daniel study began this week and will run through the week of February 15. The readings for Weeks 1 - 5 can be picked up at the church office and will also be available at church this Sunday. The material is also available on the church website, www.kemptonnewchurch.org. If anyone not already participating in a group wants to join one, please contact me and we will find a place for you. – Lawson Smith The sermon this Sunday will be on Daniel 3, about the courage of Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego, so that Andy can preach on the subject he has researched before he goes to Brazil. We will catch up with Daniel 2 the following Sunday. It's Time! Time to order your 2014-2015 KNCS Yearbook. Order forms can be found at the secretary’s desk. Reserve your copy by Friday, February 6 for just $10. After that the price goes up to $20, and the number of extra books will be limited. Yearbooks will arrive at the end of May. Please contact Judy Synnestvedt with any questions – 610-756-4210. Care Packages: The KNCS/KNC Society’s annual care packages will be sent off in mid-February, and you are invited to partake in this fun project once again. The boxes will go to 22 students away at college or in the military, so now’s the time to start gathering little gifts for them. (The count: nine girls/women and thirteen boys/men.) You are great at coming up with goodies, but here are some of the classic ideas: hot chocolate, tea, popcorn, dried fruit, instant oatmeal, granola bars, quarters, stamps, gum, candy, instant soups, school supplies (pencils, pens, post-it notes, etc.), homemade cookies, etc. (One caution is that the strong scent of things like laundry detergent and personal care products tends to permeate the food items.) We will also happily accept financial contributions to help with mailing the packages. Thanks for your support! Phone numbers for the Wade Buicks: Wade – 610-223-4538; Maraika – 610-295-4768. Can you help a family in need with furniture and household items of any kind? The Fishes know a family that has nothing and has just moved into an empty house. Contact Lisa or Charlie Fish at 610- 756-4433. KEMPTON NEW CHURCH NOTE HOME – January 15, 2015 page 2

It's Curtains for You! The Society Room windows are being re-trimmed and the light gold curtains are not being re-hung. Would you like to re-purpose them? There are 12 panels, each 50″ x 61″, and they are lined, yet! If interested in any or all, call Judy Synnestvedt at 610-756-4210, and don't delay. They were narrowly snatched from the jaws of Goodwill recently, but it won't last.

To All who went to church last Sunday, the 11th: I had a black leather jacket with a gray Carhartt hat in the pocket hanging on a hook outside of Arne’s office. It appears that someone took it by mistake. As it happens, I inadvertently took a black leather jacket which does NOT have a hat in the pocket. I would like to return it to its owner. Please contact me and I will come do a switch. Thank you – Thaddeus Glenn (610-756-4172) A set of Allen wrenches showed up at the church during the Christmas season. Is it yours? It can currently be found in the kitchen. Left at the church: A mustard-yellow deviled egg plate. Is it yours? New Kempton Worship Books: You may take one home if you will use it there. We cannot sell them. A $10 contribution covers the cost to the church. Checks can be made out to Kempton New Church (P.O. Box 140, Kempton 19529), with liturgy in the memo line. Also, we would like to keep track of how many of these books leave the church premises. So please put your name on the page posted inside the church vestibule closet, where they are stored, when taking them home. If you have taken books already, please go to the closet and add your name so we can keep track of how many have gone out, or call Carla Kerr (610-756-6140) and she will make the notation for you.
