After 1865, the United States began to see advancements in transportation. These advancements linked resources, products, and markets. The increased use of the railroad allowed the moving of natural resources such as copper and lead to eastern factories. This was important because these resources were used for industries such as roofing, plumbing and machinery. In addition to moving copper and lead, iron ore deposits were moved to steel mill sites in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers!
