In May 2001, he received 27 Boy Scout status and quickly moved through the ranks, passing the 28 Eagle Board of Review February 28, 2006; and 29 30 Whereas, participating in the Boy Scouts of America requires 31 dedication and long-term commitment to community service; and 32 33 Whereas, Martin volunteers for the American Caner Society Relay 34 for Life, the Ronald McDonald House, and repaired three 35 fountains in his community, raising the money to fix the pumps, 36 replacing all of the parts, and refurbishing the aesthetic features to 37 help brighten the area; and 38 39 Whereas, Martin not only excels in the Scouts, but he also shines 40 in school. Martin, a sophomore at Pee Dee Academy in Mullins, 41 has perfect attendance, never having missed a day of school since 42 the first grade. He is an active member of the Fellowship of
1 [1396] 1 1 Christian Athletes, the Biology Club, the Junior Honor Society, the 2 Varsity Football team, and Team Captain of the Junior Varsity 3 Baseball team; and 4 5 Whereas, the Senate is pleased to recognize young people like 6 Martin O’Neal of Marion who selflessly give their time, talents, 7 and energy to better their local communities, the State, and 8 ultimately our nation. Now, therefore, 9 10 Be it resolved by the Senate: 11 12 That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate 13 Martin Legrand O’Neal on his achieving the elite rank of Eagle 14 Scout, and wish him much success in all of his future endeavors. 15 16 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 17 Mr. Martin Legrand O’Neal. 18 ----XX---- 19
