(A) There is created the Status Offenses Study 24 Committee to study the laws of this State concerning status 25 offenses for juveniles, including, but not limited to, offenses that 26 qualify as status offenses, penalties for committing a status 27 offense, and the application of those offenses on the population of 28 this State. 29 (B) The study committee must be composed of: 30 (1) three members of the House of Representatives 31 appointed by the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee; and 32 (2) three members of the Senate appointed by the Chairman 33 of the Senate Judiciary Committee. 34 (C) The study committee shall prepare a report for the General 35 Assembly that sets forth findings and recommendations relevant to 36 the purposes of the study committee and provide its report to the 37 General Assembly by December 31, 2016, at which time the study 38 committee must be dissolved. 39 40 SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by 41 the Governor. 42 XX
