Joint Field Office SITUATION REPORT No. 3 Ground-Hog Day Tornadoes The Florida State Emergency Response Team February 9, 2007 Operational Period: February 8, 2007-1000 hrs-February 9, 2007-1000 hrs ______CURRENT SITUATION:

The Joint Field Office (JFO) is at a Level 2 (Partial) activation.

Forward Command will remain operational through 9 February. Planning operations have been assumed by JFO planning staff with support from the SEOC. Public safety announcements are being successfully carried over major media routes.

SITREP and IAP will be operating on a 24 hour schedule. JFO IAP time is now 1400 daily in order to precede joint IAP with FEMA. SITREP will be distributed in the morning NLT 1000.

WEATHER: The weather for the impacted counties and the Forward team today will be sunny with a high in the low seventies, slight winds, and lows in the high forties.

CONSEQUENCES: 1. Fatalities – There are 20 confirmed fatalities as reported by the State Medical Examiners Office as of 02/04/07. 2. Sheltering – 1 general population shelter in Volusia County. Population: 3 (8 Feb 07)

Lake County will host “The Art in the Park” in Lady Lake on February 10th and 11th. A crowd in excess of 5000 is expected.

County Status Volusia County Health Department located at 1330 S. Woodland Blvd, Deland, FL 32724is closed due to damage. COOP plan activated.

STATE ACTIONS:

 The SEOC is at level 2 and supporting JFO  The State Emergency Response Team (SERT) is staffed with appropriate Branch Directors and ESFs  Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) and Green IMT team will demobilized today.  SERT staff deployed to support Joint Field operations in Orlando, with change over of key personnel anticipated by weekend, and staff rollover anticipated by day 14 (16 February)  Operations and Plans Sections staff are monitoring the current situation and providing updates as needed  5 Disaster Recovery Centers are operational and serving survivors in Lake, Sumter and Volusia Counties  Conference calls with counties conducted daily at 1115  American Red Cross has set up a website for persons and families affected by a disaster: disastersafe.redcross.org  For current information about volunteers and donations visit: www.volunteerflorida.org or call the Florida Volunteer and Donations Hotline at 1-800-FL-HELP-1 (1-800-354- 3571)  IAP conducted via conference call with SEOC/forward command participation at 1400 daily  Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) opening in Lake County 9 Feb 07, will be collocated with 200 person volunteer base camp. 1000+ affiliated volunteers have been registered.
