Description Students will create using the Lego kit mobile structures that can be programmed with the NXT software to move and accomplish specific tasks.
FBISD Content Area TEKS Objective:
1. Foundations: Student demonstrates and use of appropriate hardware components, software programs, and their connections. Student uses data input skills appropriate to the task.
2. Information Acquisition: Student uses a variety of strategies to acquire information from electronic resources, with appropriate supervision.
3. Solving Problems: Student uses appropriate computer – based productivity tools to create and modify solutions to problems. Student uses research skills and electronic communication to create new knowledge.
4. Communication: Student formats digital information for appropriate and effective communication. Student delivers the product electronically in a variety of media, with appropriate supervision.

Big Ideas (student generated answers to the essential questions) Students learn how to organize themselves, following directions, and applying the trial and error concept
Authenticity/Real World Connection The use of the Lego-NXT software teaches the students to look what they are learning from different point of view.
Instructional Alternatives/Differentiation Developing different ways to follow written instructions and recreate more complex tasks and Use of peer tutoring approach to help each student to accomplish different tasks.

8:00-8:30 Meet & Greet - Get to Know Each Other
8:30– 9:00 Review Class Rules and Expectations
9:00-9:15 Tour the Building. Show the students where the restroom and water fountains are located
9:15-10:15 Meet in Commons to go over CHAMPS and Campus Expectations
· Introduce Teachers
· Why they have badges, they bring them every day
· What is going to happen at the camp?
· Talk about the three weeks
· CHAMPS
· Dismissal Procedures
· Being late or not being picked up consequences
10:15-10:30 Snack Time and Recess
10:30-10:45 Restroom and Water Break
10:45-11:20 Introduction Movie/Show sample projects/Robotics Kit Introduction/Start Building
Activities Estimated Time: Icebreaker Video 10 minutes, Explaining and Organizing the parts of the Robotics kit, and Building and Programing the NXT Robot Common Palette (Steps 1-5) 30 min, Demonstration Period 30 minutes, Common Palette (Steps 6-10) 30 minutes, Demonstration Period 30 minutes, Common Palette (steps 10-15) 45 min -1 hr, Demonstration 30 minutes , Clean up period 30-1hrs. Leave Robot and kits .

Today I: “statement for students” Today I want to get to know my peers and learn basic commands and building of the NXT robot.
Whole group activities Icebreaker activity, Organizing the Robotics kit, Demonstration Period- Teacher will allow each group to demonstrate to the rest of the class each of the 5 commands that they were practicing, Clean up period- Have students to put any loose parts in the kits, close the kits, and stack the kits, and place the robot on top of the kit. Label the Robot with a piece of masking tape - Group 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Independent activities “Get to know you”, Questionnaire, Icebreaker Video, Students will organize the parts of the robots in kit.

8:00-8:15 Review Class Rules and Expectations
8:15– 10:15 Intermediate Robotics Programming and Building
1.) Finish Common Palette Steps 10-15 (30min);
2.) Demonstration (30 min);
3.) Common Palette Steps 16-20; (30 min);
4.) Once steps 16-20 are completed, Perform Challenge #1! (1-hr);
10:15-10:30 Snack Time and Recess
10:30-10:45 Restroom and Water Break
10:45-11:20 Continue steps 16-20 are completed, Perform Challenge #1!
Make the Robot accomplish a task in 5 to 10 commands.
a.) Students have to create the program,

c.) Demonstration to the class-30 min - 1hour;

Make the Robot accomplish a task in 5 to 10 commands.
a.) Students have to create the program,
b.) Test the program, (1 hour);
c.) Demonstration to the class-30 min - 1hour;
8:45-10:15 Start Complete Palette Steps 21-25 (30 minutes); Demonstration Period 30 minutes;
10:15-10:30 Snack Time and Recess
10:30-10:45 Restroom and Water Break
10:45-11:20 Continue steps 16-20 are completed, and Steps 21-25
