REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Education Kits – Type B

1. UNICEF shortly intends to issue a bid for the following Education School Kits – Type B for primary level students in Grades 5 & 6 in Iraq. These kits are required for delivery prior to the start of the 2005/2006 scholastic year in September 2005. UNICEF’s specifications for the items are listed below:

Each Kit will contain;

Exercise Book – Qty 6 each 8mm ruled, size 210 x 165mm, 96 sheets/192 pages, white wood-free 70gsm paper without margin, 140gsm glossy cover, Arabic Style opening, perfect binding, with 4- colour logo on back and name label in English and Arabic at the front.

Exercise Book – Qty 6 each 8 mm ruled, size 210x165m, 48 sheets/96 pages, white wood-free 70gsm paper without margin, 140gsm glossy cover, Arabic Style opening, Saddle-stitch binding, with 4-colour logo on back and name label in English and Arabic at the front.

Exercise Book (For English Language) – Qty 1 Ruled, size 210x165mm, 48 sheets/96 pages, white wood-free 70gsm paper without margin, 140gsm glossy cover, English Style opening, Saddle-stitch binding with 4- colour logo on back and name label in English and Arabic at the front.

Exercise Book (For Laboratory Subject) – Qty 1 8mm ruled on one page followed by a blank page on the other. Size 21x165mm, 48 sheets/96pages, white wood-free 70gsm paper without margin, 140gsm glossy cover, Arabic style opening. Saddle-stitch binding with 4-colour logo on back and name label in English and Arabic on the front.

Pencil – Qty 12 each HB Grade, black lead, core size min. 2mm, max. 3mm, hexagonal. Minimum Length 170mm - 180mm maximum. Yellow painted wooden casing without eraser, sharpened, packed in a single box. . Pencil Sharpener – Qty 3 each Moulded plastics, good quality sharpener with waste holder (small), blade fitted with steel screw. Assorted colours

Eraser – Qty 3 each Soft, white synthetic or natural rubber eraser, for pencil. Approx. size 30 x 20 x 10 mm.

Ruler – Qty 1 each Flat ruler, 30cm long, approx. thickness 3mm, transparent plastic with bevelled edges, ‘cms’ graduated in mm on one side and ’inches’ in 1/16 on the other

Water Colour Paint Box Pallette – Qty 1 box Including 12 assorted water colours, including one good quality brush and a water holder all included in palette box.

3. To express your interest in participating in this bidding exercise, please complete the attached form and return it to us by email to: Sharon Sorensen (email: [email protected]) or on before the response deadline of 18th March 2005. PLEASE NOTE THAT RESPONSES RECEIVED WITHOUT A DULY COMPLETE FORM OR A FORM THAT IS INCOMPLETE, WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. This form is attached as a separate file.

4. Finally, please note:

(a) We do NOT require prices at this stage, and we merely seek your expression of interest in participating in the bid;

(b) If you are not able to offer products precisely in accordance with the attached specifications, but are nevertheless interested in participating in the bid, please provide full technical details of the products that you may be able to offer;

(c) A response to this Request for Expression of Interest does not automatically ensure that you will be selected for Invitation to Bid. Responses are used to select suppliers for bid, and will be carefully reviewed. Consequently it is important that the attached form is completed in full, and that all information is accurate.

(d) The bid document will contain full specifications together with picture information which will allow bidders to identify the items correctly. Furthermore, the bidders will be required to provide samples of the items together with the bid submission.

(e) It is a pre-requisite that the full quantity of kits, are delivered in-country (Iraq) by 15th August, 2005.
