Dear Sir/Madam

Old Lake Road, Ambleside Proposed Waiting Restrictions Information to addresses affected by the proposals

County Council officers have prepared a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to be published and advertised for Ambleside. The TRO includes a proposal to implement No Waiting At Any Time, double yellow lines restrictions on parts Old Lake Road. I am writing to inform you of the proposals and to invite you to comment or object before the proposals are finalised. If you do not reply, it will be assumed that you are in agreement with the proposals. The deadline for replies is Friday 16 December 2011.

Old Lake Road is a narrow and primarily residential road. It has a number of private accesses for driveways and garages along its length. Parked vehicles in the section immediately north of the junction with Fisherbeck Lane can make it difficult for through traffic. It can also make it difficult for vehicles to turn into and out of off-street access and garages along the road. The proposal is shown of the enclosed plan.

It is proposed to extend the existing No Waiting At Any Time restriction (double yellow line) and replace the existing Keep Clear marking on the eastern side of the road to remove obstructive parking. A gap has been left in the restrictions allowing for parking where it isn’t considered to cause problems for the residents or through traffic.

When will the proposals be finalised and implemented on the ground?

Following advertising and consultation on the proposals, a report will be prepared to go before the County Council Local Committee for South Lakeland on 20 January 2011. The Committee will make the final decision as to what will be implemented and so the final proposals may differ from these draft proposals. We will endeavour to inform you of the committee decision in due course. If the Committee agree to implement the proposals, the making of the traffic order and the placing of signs and markings should take place within a 3 month period after the decision. Note on e-mail responses

E-mail responses are acceptable but must include full name, address and telephone number. This will enable us to check responses are genuine and help to analyse responses. Please note that names and addresses will not be used in the Committee report.

Yours sincerely

Stuart Braithwaite Traffic Management Officer
