MARYSVILLE USD #364 Regular Board Meeting Highlights

December 8, 2010

 Accepted the donation of $225 from R.L. or Elsa Helvering Trust to repair the weather station at Marysville Elementary School.  Reviewed a budget report showing the current budget spent compared to budget spent for the last two years.  Mr. Thexton gave a report on the Education Jobs funds which are in lieu of a portion of the December general state aid. School districts could still face a $75 cut in the base budget per pupil. Mr. Thexton also stated that the cash balance increased due to the increase of mill levy in Capital Outlay which can not be used for salaries.  Enrollment projections for the 2011-2012 school year were discussed. A total increase of approximately 12 students is expected. It shows an increased headcount of 8 at Marysville Junior High, and an increased headcount of 4 at Marysville High School, and no change at Marysville Elementary.  Mr. Thexton gave a report on the Trane Project and the 0% interest bonds that the local banks are backing.  Connor Crist, Jas Hassan, and Stephanie Martin, students in Dora Gross' Probability & Statistics Class, gave a presentation on Marysville High School Students' Daily Homework.  Approved Vernon Golladay as Freshman Boys Basketball Coach.  General Discussion: o Kendra Wecker, one of five, selected for Kansas State High School Activities Association Hall of Fame for Class of 2011 o Annual Northeast Kansas Educational Legislative Luncheon - January 5, 2011 in Seneca.
