Honors Research Paper Requirements/Rubric

- The paper for this quarter will be in MLA format and will be required to be 5-7 pages, double spaced, and 12 font. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WORKS CITED! - Each student are to have 5 or more sources (two books and 3 electronic) - No student is allowed to use Wikipedia, Google, Yahoo, Bing, About.com or any search engine of the sort. All students can access online articles through the Maple Heights Schools library website. - There must be at least four integrated quotes with “_” and ( ). - The paper is due Friday, January 20, 2012. You have a little over two weeks to finish this assignment on your own at home. I will supply you with an outline to assist you on set-up and what should be in the paper. - Use the notes Ms. Sisson gave you in Writing Seminar to guide you on your paper. - This paper will also count for Ms. Sisson’s class as well as Ms. Clark’s class. - Failing to do this paper OR PLAGIARIZING will cause you to have a low grade in this class and in English I.

 Not allowed to use Wikipedia, about.com, etc.  All students should use Info Ohio, Gale, etc.  Students can find educational articles on the appropriate sites using the High School library’s website.  NO .com sites and NO .net sites. MUST HAVE CLARK AND SISSON APPROVAL ON USE OF ANY!!  NOT ALLOWED TO USE TEXTBOOK AS A SOURCE.

-Students are encouraged to use our Maple Heights High School library during lunch or before/after school during 21st Century. Ms. Clark will be passing this rubric on to Ms. Rassi, the teacher in charge of the program at the high school.

-NPR: No personal reference includes the following- -I, me, us, we, our, and my. Only way to use these words are inside of a quote from a source.

-Never start paper with “This paper is about,” “I’m going to talk about,” etc. That is the same as sending a text that says “I’m going to text you now” and then type the rest of the message.
