HACC/Penn State Dual Enrollment Procedures *Applies to both HACC and PSU-Harrisburg 2015-16 School Year Central Dauphin High School

1. Application: a. HACC - Submit an application for admission. This must be signed by the student, parent/guardian and school counselor. b. PSU – Harrisburg - Students should make an appointment with the school counselor to obtain an application and required paperwork.

2. Submit an official copy of your high school transcripts and SAT scores. It is strongly recommended that a student have achieved the following:* a. A cumulative GPA at least 87% b. A minimum score of 1100 on the SAT (when combining critical reading and math scores)

3. Complete, sign, and submit the Release of Information form. This allows HACC/PSU to discuss your academic record and progress with your school and/or parent/guardian.*

4. Placement Testing: Please note, students who test into any remedial classes will not be eligible for admission.* a. HACC – After submitting application and related documents, students must schedule placement testing. Please contact 780-1105 to schedule placement testing. Have HACC ID# in order to make an appointment. At the time of testing, you will need your HACC ID# and a photo ID. (A school ID and/or license is acceptable.) b. PSU – If a placement test is needed for a course at PSU, your counselor will let you know.

5. After placement testing is complete, make an appointment with Danielle Martin at 221-1788 to determine your eligibility for admission. (HACC only)

6. Course Selection: a. HACC -If admitted, you will be referred to a HACC Counselor who will assist you with your course selection. You will also need to meet with your school counselor to discuss your courses. b. PSU – Courses will be selected with help from school counselor and submitted to PSU.

7. Obtain a Certificate of Residence after July 1, 2015 (HACC only)

8. Dual enrollment/Early admissions coursework must be taken during the regular school day. No online courses will be permitted. The only exception is for a course that is listed as a blended course, requiring that student to be in class part of the time and to also complete some assignments online.*

9. Full Time verses Part Time: a. HACC -In order to be considered a full-time college student, you must be scheduled for at least 12 credits per semester. Part-time students will be required to take 6 credits of coursework at HACC each semester as well as 4 credits of coursework at Central Dauphin High School. b. PSU – Students are limited to a maximum of 8 credits at PSU/semester.

10. All dual enrollment/early admissions classes must be scheduled between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. No evening or weekend courses will be permitted.*

11. If your college course is scheduled but the high school is closed that day, you are still responsible for attending the college class.*

12. When applying to college, in addition to having your high school transcript sent, you will need to request an official college transcript be sent as well. You will request this through your HACC or PSU. The high school will NOT send college transcripts.* a. HACC Students - Please request transcripts using your myHACC account under student tab/HACC Web Self service area. b. PSU Students – Use this link to request transcripts from PSU http://www.registrar.psu.edu/transcripts/transcripts.cfm or order transcripts on campus at the registrar’s office.

13. Students are responsible for printing a copy of the fall and spring college schedule and giving a copy to the counselor at CDHS. When the semester has ended and you receive your grades on-line, it is your responsibility to print a copy of your college course grades and give it to your High School Counselor. An official transcript must be received from the college before the classes can be counted for high school credit and added to your high school transcript. College grades will NOT be calculated into your high school grade point average.*

14. Before you can be eligible for high school graduation, an official transcript must be received in the guidance office as soon as the spring semester concludes and BEFORE the scheduled high school graduation.*

15. It is YOUR responsibility to contact your high school counselor the first week in August to adjust your school schedule. You must bring your college schedule to this meeting. Email is the best way to contact your counselor to set up this meeting.*

16. Dual-enrollment/Early Admissions students may not participate in the Co-op program.*

17. Part time Dual Enrollment/Early Admission students must sign in/out of the Guidance Office.*

18. Important Dates and Items to Consider: a. To be eligible for the Dual Enrollment/Early Admissions program, all paperwork must be submitted by Friday, March 27, 2015 at 3:00pm.* b. Please note, participation in the dual enrollment/early admissions program is not guaranteed.* c. Students who do not pay fees at designated times will be removed from courses and must return to CDHS.*
