Presentation - Chris Moore/ Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief(UISBCDR): The UISBCDR is a faith based volunteer disaster relief organization that overlooks denominations. All volunteers have background checks and are credentialed. They are locally available for non-declared disasters. They have a limited scope of operations and possibly can work in a “stop gap” role in the event of a major disaster. Local agreements would need to be developed in order to use their services in the event of a declared major disaster. National agreements and funding The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, The International Mission Bond, Mercy Medical (can fly during no- fly/grounding ). The organization has the ability to call in more crews from Texas and California if needed. The UISBCDR would like to partner with local pastors to increase availability. Most hard costs, such as fuel and food, are donated or need to be funded. The equipment and labore are provided free of charge.

Resources located in Hayden:

(1) A 10 x 20 Trailer – can be set up by 2 men and 1 small boy. Runs on 110V electricity. Chris states that up to 50,000 people can be fed twice a day.

Around the Room: Discussion Regarding Response of Summer Storms

Marcus Robbins/Bonner Co. IT: It was a challenge keeping the power up and running

Andrew Isaacs/Lifeflight: Lifeflight now has 2 air resources available. P a g e | 3

Leslie Marshall/Bonner Co. Public Works: The Solid Waster department allowed trees and brush resulting from storm damage to be brought to full service transfer sites free of charge through August 17th.

First Christian Church: They are in the process of making their facilities available in the event of a disaster.

Don Wells/Avista: 43 rooms were booked in the Sandpoint are for the crews that were brought in to help with the power outages. Crews came from as far as Boise, Idaho and Bozeman, MT. Two companies were contracted to help also.

Bill Steele/Idaho Fire Marshall: Bill reminded fireman be aware of possible insurance fraud. During the windstorm a homeowner burnt their house down. However, the storm did not come close enough to their home to justify the damage to their property as they had claimed.

Rick Bailey/Sandpoint Police: Sandpoint officers worked with the city cutting trees. It was very good to see neighbors helping neighbors.

Larry Larsen/WPOFD: Larry had 10 guys out for 38 hours straight helping to clear trees.

Jamie Bradley/Bonner Co. 911: 911 was operating in survival mode. They were extremely busy. Half of the total 911 was called in and responded well.

Bob Bussey/Bonner Co. EMS – The encountered 1 generator problem during the storm events.

Glen Bailey/Bonner Co. Commissioner: Commissioner Bailey was very happy with Emergency Management and EMS’ handling of the situation. There were lessons learned, as to what improvements are needed in such an event.

Mike Nielsen/Bonner Co. Commissioner: The counties current generators are not big enough to support the load demanded in the event of a disaster. The County is able to provide a 250K generator without raising taxes.

Bob Wathen/Sam Owen Fire Department: A few boats sunk.

Cary Kelly/Bonner Co. Commissioner: Commissioner Kelly stated that there was a nice community turnout to help one another. However, communication improvements are needed.

Tammy Klingler/Bonner Co. 911: EMS did a fabulous job. Fire Chief Stocking identified priorities and routed services which worked out well.

Bob Howard/Bonner Co. Emergency Mgmt: Fuel sources were found to be a challenge. Emergency Management is currently working on MOU’s with local bulk fuel sources. There will be a Wildland Tabletop Exercise scheduled in September/October. P a g e | 4
