RENTAL CAR INFORMATION FOR PHYSICS DEPARTMENT – TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY APRIL 19, 2007

Information concerning rental cars for the Physics Department is below. The following vendors have state contracts with Texas A&M University and most branches can direct bill the charges when it is used for business travel by the Physics Department. 1. Try to rent the most economical sized car if possible – if you rent anything larger than “compact” sizes (the second smallest size), please provide explanation as to why it was necessary to do so. 2. Try to fill the vehicle up with gas before returning it to rental agency – big cost savings measure here. 3. Be sure you have a Business Travel & Leave request on file before departing for your travel so that when the bill arrives, we can pay it without delay. 4. Taxes are not charged when billed direct – they are charged when you charge it to your credit card, even if you are using the state contract numbers – another cost savings 5.
