Description (include duties & working conditions):

Typical duties of a Civil Engineer Technician.

- Surveying with a Trimble survey grade GPS - Creating maps with ESRI ArcGIS desktop - Drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D - Using NRCS Web Soil Survey for desktop analysis - Gain basic understanding of irrigation systems & scheduling - Writing design reports for projects - Preparing sketches and photographs needed for performing the design. - Performing construction inspections for projects. Helps Engineer recommend acceptance or rejection of installed work - Prepare Job Sheets to current agency policies - Collects field data and assures adequacy of collected data. Processes and plots data. Note: There will be OJT (On Job Training) for all software programs and field assessment tools not known to selected applicant.

Working conditions - 50% in the office - 50% in the field: This includes working in the mountains for rangeland. This includes putting rubber boots on to walk through dairies, manure and other animal waste. This includes walking long distances for surveying. - May operate motor vehicles, including truck and ATV. Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license. And is not required, but to use ATV, ATV safety course certification is required.

Qualifications:  Currently enrolled in a 2 year accredited college and internet to transfer to a 4 year college program or university.

 At least at Sophomore Level.

 Minimum GPA of 2.5.

 Preferred GPA 2.75 or higher.

 Pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree.

Scholarship: $2,500 for 8 weeks Internship Start Date: June 1, 2015 to July 24, 2015.
