A. Section includes Surge Protective Devices (SPD) for the protection of electrical circuits from the effects of externally generated lightning-induced currents, substation switching transients, and internally generated transients resulting from inductive or capacitive load switching, motors, drives.

0.6 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace SPDs (product only) that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.

1. Warranty Period: [Five] [Ten] [Fifteen] [Twenty-Five] years from date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

0.1 GENERAL SPD REQUIREMENTS

A. Comply with NFPA 70.

B. Comply with ANSI/UL 1449.

C. Comply with ANSI/UL 1283 if the SPD is a Type 2 device.

A. Peak Surge Current Rating: The minimum single-pulse surge current withstand rating per phase shall not be less than [300 kA] [200 kA] [100 kA] . The peak surge current rating shall be the arithmetic sum of the ratings of the individual MOVs in a given mode.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

0.1 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturers installation instructions, applicable NEC codes, local codes, and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.

B. Install SPDs with conductors between suppressor and points of attachment as short and straight as possible. Adjust circuit-breaker positions to achieve shortest and straightest leads.

C. Use ILSCO® Cool Seal® connectors and splices when additional lead length may be needed. Wire nuts are unacceptable. Do not exceed 36-inches (914-mm) combined lead length without consulting a factory representative.

0.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Perform the following tests:

1. If applicable, compare equipment nameplate data for compliance with drawings and specifications. 2. Verify that electrical wiring installation complies with manufacturer's written installation requirements.
