Created a functional gap analysis identifying gaps between client’s functional and technical requirements and standard Oracle functionality. Conducted a Way Forward presentation for upper    management to present my recommendations and analysis of the requirements and current processes. ClubCorp – Dallas, TX 01/2013 to 09/2013 Lead functional Oracle consultant for an Oracle 11i to r12 upgrade. Performed all functional testing to ensure that the standard and custom payroll processes and reports worked correctly after the upgrade to r12. Validated payroll run results for six different bi-weekly payrolls. Compared the payroll run results from the 11i payroll to the R12 payroll identifying and resolving any discrepancies found in the validation. Assisted the payroll department staff with payroll production issues. Implemented functionality related to Pennsylvania Political Subdivision codes. Performed tax balance adjustments to correct employee payroll balances for Pennsylvania PSD withholding. Assisted in reformatting of payroll checks using the Payroll Archive check style. Lead functional Oracle consultant for an Oracle r12 payroll implementation. Gathered requirements and configured Oracle module for several hundred earnings and deductions, 28 payrolls and 4 GRE’s. Conducted CRP1 and CRP2, processing parallel payrolls for 20+ payrolls. Validated payroll run results. Identified and corrected variances discovered through parallel validation. Documented requirements and tested interfaces to load Kronos and other third party time-keeping systems into Oracle through Batch Element Entry. Managed a 4 person payroll department processing payroll for 3500 U.S. employees. Transferred employee masterfile and benefit deduction data from the PeopleSoft Human Resource system to the ADP GlobalView payroll system using a manual process consisting of ad-hoc queries, Excel macro spreadsheets and dataloaders. Validated data from PeopleSoft and GlobalView to ensure that all data transferred accurately. Cooperated with ADP to resolve several outstanding service tickets that were unresolved for 2-3 months. Approved configuration change requests and custom report requests. Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the payroll analysts and tax analyst. Created training calendar to train Dallas new-hires in preparation of moving the payroll department to Dallas. Researched ADP GlobalView functionality to allocate employee wages to the state in which the work was performed. Cooperated with Ernst & Young to close State and Local tax accounts affected by British Telecom mergers and acquisitions.

Implemented Oracle Payroll r12.1.3. Joined a project that was seriously behind schedule and successfully implemented Oracle payroll for 8 different hourly and salaried payrolls, consisting of 1500 employees. Wrote custom fast formulas, performed functional configuration of payroll elements. Led 5 person team through Parallel Payroll Testing, User Acceptance Testing and Go-Live. Responsible for testing mid-year payroll balance conversion. Worked with technical developers to create custom XML direct deposit and payroll

   checks. Performed balance adjustments to correct missing mid-year payroll balances. Provided extensive post- production support and end-user training.

Alpha Natural Resources – Abingdon, VA 10/2010 – 02/2011

Tested Family Pack K rollup patch, and Year-End patches to determine if these patches introduced any issues with the client’s current 11i instance and custom payroll processes. Assisted client end-users in Oracle payroll year-end processing and printing of employee W2’s. Researched and resolved issues related to data printing correctly on the employee W2’s. Trained client payroll business analyst in configuration and setup of new earnings and deductions to record Long Term Incentive Plan payouts through supplemental payroll processing. Instructed and assisted payroll specialists in the recording of taxable and non-taxable moving expenses on the employees’ payroll record and W2. Created end-user documentation to record process for recording taxable and non-taxable moving expenses. Wrote skip rule fast formulas to correct issues related to recurring deductions.

Glendale Community College – Glendale, CA 02/2010 – 07/2010

Performed requirement gathering, gap analysis and configuration for an Oracle Time & Labor implementation at a Higher Education client. Analyzed existing processes and mapped current processes to future processes in Oracle. Researched and assisted developer in enabling multiple-assignment functionality using the TimeKeeper Entry form. Configured OTL preferences based on client’s requirements. Added additional fields to the TimeKeeper Entry form enabling costing information to be entered with the employee’s time. Defined earning rules to help eliminate keying mistakes made by timekeepers.

Wendy’s/Arby’s – Atlanta, GA 10/2009 – 01/2010 Lead a 6-person team in validation of converted employee data for 70,000 employees, including employee federal and state tax records, recurring earnings and deductions, direct deposit information, and salary. Instructed payroll managers in use of dataloader to load salary changes for parallel payroll processing. Researched and documented interfaces and processes related to payroll. Assisted in conducting payroll test scripts and creating test scenarios. Researched discrepancies identified in parallel payroll processing.

Navilyst Medical – Glenns Falls, NY 7/2008 – 7/2009 Implemented Oracle Human Resources r12 and assisted in the configuration and interface of Oracle HR to ADP payroll. Performed requirements analysis, created AS-IS and TO-BE Visio diagrams, and performed design, gap/fit, User Acceptance Testing and Conference Room Pilot for Oracle HR, Learning Management and iRecruitment. Oklahoma Department of Human Services – Oklahoma City, OK 8/2005 – 01/2006 Served as functional lead consultant in upgrade of Oracle Human Resouce and Training Administration from 11.0.3 to 11i for a large, state government agency. Tested functional processes after upgrade, researched issues and resolved upgrade problems. Worked extensively with end-users to understand new functionality and changes delivered with the Oracle Learning Management application. Provided training to field staff and assisted in testing of several custom forms and interfaces.

Zales Inc – Dallas, TX 12/2004 – 07/2005 Performed role as functional payroll lead implementing Oracle payroll for a large multi-state client. Created functional design for interfacing check and direct deposit output files to a third-party printing service. Performed setup of all earnings, deductions, payrolls, costing and element links. Dallas Independent School District – Dallas, TX 11/2003 – 02/2004 Performed W2 and year-end processing. Identified and corrected employees with incorrect W2 tax balances. Analyzed employee information to identify employees with incorrect or incomplete processes. Advised client on methods to improve processing procedures. Created the Federal W2 magnetic media file and the employees paper W2’s. Assisted in the balancing of Federal and State tax remittance reports. Created Discoverer reports to identify employees wth W2 related issues. Reviewed setup and configuration of the payroll application.

Smithfield Foods Inc. - Smithfield, VA 04/2003 – 10/2003 Served as lead Oracle payroll consultant for a two phase Oracle 11i HRMS/Payroll implementation. Provided post production support for Phase 1, including functional guidance and training to payroll and HRMS supervisors and users. Implemented processing procedures, audit controls and reporting procedures to ensure accurate payroll processing for several weekly payrolls. Verified accurate configuration and set-up for Phase 2 earnings, deductions and benefit elements. Created functional training guides for end users. Responsible for parallel testing of Executive Salary payroll containing extremely sensitive Executive salary information. Ensured accurate processing of all payroll transactions including payroll reversals, balance adjustments, costing processes, and quickpays.

Metalsa – Monterrey, Mexico 03/2003 – 04/2003 Provided direction to Oracle payroll 11i implementation. Performed analysis on problems resulting from Global localization using Mexico and U.S. business group legislation. Analyzed earning fast-formulas, third- party payroll interface and functionality of Mexico templates created by Oracle Consulting Mexico.

Saudi Business Machines – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 11/2002 – 01/2003 Analyzed requirements for an Oracle payroll implementation using the Saudi Arabia localization. Researched option of using both Arabic and English in the HRMS/Payroll application. Evaluated possibilities of using Hijri calendar date format, as well as the Gregorian calendar. Assisted in creating proposal presented to client and ensuring realistic implementation deadlines.

Laclede Gas Company – Saint Louis, MO 10/2001 – 10/2002 Evaluated and corrected an unsuccessful Oracle 11i payroll implementation on a Windows NT operating system. Reviewed and corrected all existing set-up including payroll calendar definition and salary basis. Created custom salary and hourly wage elements, wrote custom fast-formulas for earnings, deductions, informational elements and skip-rule processing. Implemented seven separate payrolls, including union hourly, monthly and bi-weekly salary, and qualified and non-qualified annuitant payrolls. Implemented payroll costing and transfer of costing information to a Walker general ledger system. Performed testing and validation of all employee earning and tax balances loaded into Oracle payroll. Wrote instruction manuals and presented end- user training for functional end-users in the Human Resource and Payroll departments.

Burns & McDonnell Engineering – Kansas City, MO 01/2001 – 06/2001

   Researched and corrected 2,000 employee W-2’s. Identified errors in the initial employee balance load converting employee payroll balances from Legacy system to the Oracle Payroll 11i application. Researched and implemented a process for reporting and submitting all bi-weekly, quarterly and annual tax reconciliation for employee and employer tax liabilities. Provided post-implementation support and training to functional end-users. Identified and corrected several major issues resulting from improper HR/Payroll setup or improper processing steps. Served as interim Payroll technical analyst and liaison between functional end-users and the IT department.

Modesto Irrigation District – Modesto, CA 07/2000 - 12/2000 Implemented Oracle Training Administration 11.0.3 for a semi-public sector client. Performed all steps related to the implementation of the Training Administration module, including the development of Business, Functional and Reporting requirements, completion of Conversion requirements, Requirements mapping, and the Design/Build phase of the OTA implementation. Assisted the HRMS and Payroll module leads in the setup and testing of the HR and Payroll applications. Assisted in the mapping of payroll tax balances and initial balance loads. Prepared and presented end-user functional training classes and documentation covering all topics related to Oracle HR/Payroll. Supervised the manual conversion of all employee data from the Legacy system into the Oracle HRMS module. Provided post-production support for the Human Resource and Payroll departments.

Dallas County - Dallas, TX 05/2000 – 07/2000 Analyzed 7,000 employee organization determining the most effective means of implementing the Kronos Workforce Timekeeper System. Assisted in the research of all issues related to the connectivity and development of an organizational-wide timekeeping system. Worked with Kronos account managers to determine the optimal number of time clocks, software licenses, and all related hardware/software. Involved in the creation of the programming rules implemented in the Kronos time clocks and software ensuring proper interfacing to the Oracle HR/Payroll module. Supervised a ten-person team, delegating tasks and duties related to the creation of test scripts and project related information requirements.

Northwest Arctic Native Alaskan Assoc.– Anchorage, AK 01/2000 – 03/2000 Provided payroll support for an Oracle 11.0.3 Payroll/HR implementation in Anchorage, Alaska. Assisted client in the definition, set-up, and testing of all earnings and deductions. Defined linking parameters for all earnings. Tested costing at the element, assignment and paymix level. Instructed client on proper set-up of several HR/Payroll tables including the wage rate and worker's compensation rates and codes tables. Tested earning and deduction elements through quick pay and assignment set payroll processing. Trained client payroll staff on functional aspects of the payroll process.

Excel Telecommunications - Dallas, TX 11/1999 – 01/2000 Assisted Payroll Manager in completing year-end special projects using the Ceridian Payroll System. Audited relocation expense reports to determine taxable or non-taxable status of reimbursed relocation expenses. Calculated gross-up for federal, social security and Medicare taxes. Researched posting of manual checks, stop pays and voided payroll checks on the bank reconciliation report. Identified and corrected errors associated with the bank reconciliation process.

Raytheon - Dallas, TX 05/1999 – 11/1999 Assisted as a team member in the implementation of PeopleSoft HRIS/Payroll conversion for a large Fortune 100 company involved in the defense contract industry. Verified data conversion, researched variances and    assisted in the resolution of data conversion problems. Assisted in parallel testing and post-implementation verification. Provided research for the payroll-processing department in resolving employee questions and errors in paycheck data.

JPI Partners, Inc. - Las Colinas, TX 11/1998 – 05/1999 Served as back up to the payroll manager in a four-person department producing a multi-state payroll on the Oracle HR/Payroll System. Interfaced payroll and benefit costing to the general ledger. Prepared journal vouchers to correct any discrepancies or retroactive changes, which posted to the general ledger. Transmitted electronically all payroll ACH files, verifying receipt and accuracy of these files. Reported all federal, state and local taxes electronically to Pro-Business on a weekly and quarterly basis. Served as Oracle system expert, providing testing and problem resolution. Prepared instructional documentation of payroll processing procedures.

Tenet Healthcare, Inc. - Dallas, TX 03/1997 – 11/1998 Provided complete Genesys payroll system support to approximately 200 hospitals nationwide employing over eighty thousand employees. Resolved inquiries from hospital payroll staffs concerning all aspects of payroll including: time clocks, detail time records, manual checks, adjustments and corrections to payroll, garnishments and levies, weekly and monthly reports, etc. Researched and tested all changes made to mainframe programs. Provided comprehensive help desk support to hospitals using an in-house developed payroll system interface. Verified transmission and receipt of payroll information and ensured accuracy of payrolls.

U.S. Marine Corps - Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, HI 11/1988 – 11/1994 Completed six years honorable service as a military payroll specialist. Prepared and audited payrolls for 3,000 personnel.
