PUBLIC INFORMATION Sub-Committee Guidelines ARTICLE I Name The name of this assembly shall be the Pacific Cascade Regional Public Information Sub-committee. a Sub-committee of the Pacific Cascade Regional Service Committee for the fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous. Herein called the PCRPISC.

ARTICLE II Purpose & Function The purpose of PCRPISC is to inform the public that Narcotics Anonymous exists. Further, to keep and maintain open lines of communication between NA and the public: Area PI Sub-committees, RSC, and WSO/WSC. To respond to all requests in a timely and effective manner. To be sure that those requests are handled at the appropriate level of service.

All functions are guided by the Twelve Traditions of NA, WSC Guides to Service, that apply to PI and its successors, the parliamentary authority adopted by the PCRPISC and these guidelines.

ARTICLE III Meetings Section 1. The PCRPISC shall meet twice quarterly and once in confluence with the quarterly meeting of the RSC. (8 times per year) Section 2. Special meetings may be called by the Chairperson, and/or be called upon written request of three voting members. The purpose, place, and time of the meeting shall be stated in the call. Except in cases of emergency, at least fourteen (14) days notice will be given.

ARTICLE IV Membership and Voting Section 1. General membership in PCRPISC shall be open to all individuals who share the stated purpose of the PCRPISC. Section 2. The voting members shall be: A) Any individual who shares the stated purpose in Article II, and who has attended at least one prior PCRPISC meeting. B) Area PI chair. C) A member specifically designated by the Area or Area PI chair. Section 3. Any member, general or voting, of the PCRPISC may make a motion or participate in discussions. Seconds must be made by a voting member. Section 4. In case of a tie vote on any motion or election, the PCRPISC Chairperson will cast the deciding vote. Section 5. The requirements and duties of voting participants shall be: A) Personal time and abilities to perform their duties. B) Willingness and desire to serve in the position. C) Clean time and service experience outlined in the current edition of "A Guide to Public Information". D) Understanding and practical experience of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions on Narcotics Anonymous. E) Maintenance of clean time throughout office or participation.

ARTICLE V Officer The officers of the Regional PI Sub-committee shall be a Chairperson, a Vice- chairperson a Secretary and Historian. These Officers shall perform their duties as designated by these guidelines, a Guide to Public Information, and the A Guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous and its successors.

The Regional Treasurer shall be a signer on the checking account of the PCRPISC.

ARTICLE VI Task Force Committees Section 1. The PCRPISC may establish task force committees from time to time to carry on the work of the PCRPISC. These task force committees shall perform their duties as designated in the appropriate Sub-committee handbooks. Section 2. Standing task force committees shall be formed by the Chairperson.

ARTICLE VII Spiritual Guidance Section 1. The PCRPISC shall not make any motion or take any action that conflicts with the Twelve Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous. Section 2. The PCRPISC shall conduct business within the following documents in precession: A) The Twelve Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous B) The current publication of these guidelines C) PCRSC By-laws D) WSCPI Guidelines. E) A Guide to Local Services in Narcotics Anonymous and its successors F) The current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly revised.

ARTICLE VIII Elections The active members are eligible for nomination to a PCRPISC service positions. Section 1. Any member of the PCRPISC may nominate a qualified individual for a PCRPISC position. Section 2. A simple majority of voting members is required to elect these service member. Section 3. A service member may be removed from their position for non- compliance after written notification at the next meeting. A two-thirds vote is required for removal. Non-compliance includes but is not limited to: A) Non-fulfillment of the duties of their position. B) Non-attendance at regular sessions without prior notification of the PCRPISC Chairperson

NOTE : Motion #7, July 2001 directs PI to revise guidelines to include the duties & responsibilities of directories.
