1 [4579] 1 1 Whereas, nationally, seventy-five percent of the FFA members 2 enroll in a two-year or four-year higher education degree program 3 following graduation from high school in preparation for one of 4 the more than two hundred career opportunities which include 5 more than eight thousand job titles; and 6 7 Whereas, corporate leaders in America believe so strongly in the 8 proven success of qualified training through FFA that they jointly 9 contribute more than eight million dollars annually to the National 10 FFA Foundation, from which more than one million, two hundred 11 thousand dollars in higher education scholarships are awarded FFA 12 members nationally each year; and 13 14 Whereas, the FFA motto, “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, 15 Earning to Live, and Living to Serve”, epitomizes those high 16 standards and qualities of leadership possessed by FFA members; 17 and 18 19 Whereas, the theme for the celebration of National FFA Week, 20 February 19-26, 2000, “FFA -- The Signature of Success”, 21 underscores the leadership and vision of this outstanding youth 22 organization; and 23 24 Whereas, the FFA Organization and the natural, environmental, 25 and agricultural resources education programs in South Carolina 26 are tremendously successful and extremely valuable in improving 27 the quality of life for many South Carolinians. Now, therefore, 28 29 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 30 concurring: 31 32 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 33 Carolina, by this resolution, hereby commend South Carolina’s 34 FFA members, their advisors, school administrators, parents, and 35 all who support, promote, and encourage these students of natural, 36 environmental, and agricultural resources education on the 37 occasion of the celebration of National FFA Week, February 38 19-26, 2000. 39 40 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 41 the appropriate South Carolina FFA Officials. 42 ----XX----
