To come later… Fun stuff!! The Printable Newsletter will be emailed every Month beginning August 2008 – April 2009. All Event squads will receive a copy by email. When school starts in August, information sheets Calendar will be given to each cheerleader to fill out. The information on the forms will be included in the newsletter each month. Cheerleaders please take your time & fill them out completely. 5/29– Last Day of School NOTE: If the forms are not turned in on time you will not be in the newsletter
“General Membership” Booster Club Meeting – Monday, May19 st @ 7:00 PM, HHS Library was our first official monthly General Meeting for the 08-09 fiscal year. All parents & cheerleaders are encouraged to attend general meetings; everyone is welcome! Remember, meetings are generally every 3rd Monday of each month, please mark your calendars! President: Amy West – I have been married to Keith for 19 years & we have 1 child, Shannon – 16. Shannon will be a senior on the Varsity Cheerleading squad. This is my 4th year to serve on the board. My duties include: Presiding over all Booster Club meetings as well as Executive Board meetings. Work directly with coaches and parents to ensure the best for the cheerleaders/mascots. Work: I have worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief of Haltom City Fire/Rescue for 29 years. My job includes administrative duties for the 50 member department. Outside work: I enjoy spending time with my husband, Keith and our daughter Shannon. I also enjoy spending time with friends shopping for antiques!!! Reason for supporting Booster Club: I have had a wonderful time participating in the Booster Club. I am so excited about getting to know all the new girls and parents, and I’m really excited about working with the new board. They are all so excited about making this the best year ever! I have so many wonderful life long friends through Booster Club; I ‘m looking forward to expanding that list!! I am a Haltom graduate, (don’t ask what year!!!) so it brings me a lot of pride and joy being able to serve the school as a parent. . 1st VP: Amber Dickson – Caitlyn will be a junior on the Varsity Cheerleading squad. I also have two other daughters, Cara and Candace. My duties include: aide to president, fill in when president is absent & membership chairperson. Work: I am not working at this time, but I was a hairdresser for 18 yrs & now a lady of leisure. Outside work: I love to go to festivals. I enjoy cooking and playing poker. Reason for supporting Booster Club: I love everyone on the board and we have a blast!

I am newly elected to the board. My duties include: aide to president & vice president, fill in when president & vice president are absent, serve as co-chair of at least one of the following: fund raising, publicity, hospitality, and communications. Work: I am a secretary for AT&T. Outside work: I like to spend time with family and friends. Reason for supporting Booster Club: Supporting my daughter Jilanne.
Brenda Purvis – I have been married for 13 years & have 3 children, Sabrina-22, Brian-18, and Kristen-14. Kristen will be a sophomore on the JV Cheerleading squad. My duties include: aide to president & vice president, fill in when president & vice president are absent, serve as co-chair of at least one of the following: fund raising, publicity, hospitality, and communications. Work: I am an X-Ray Tech. Outside work: I like working in the yard, shopping, and spending time with the family. Reason for supporting Booster Club: I love the friends I’ve made and love to spend time with my Cheerleader.
Secretary: Victoria Coats – I have been married for 8 years. I have 3 children: 2 awesome stepchildren, Chastity-14, Elijah-11, and Nate-5. Chastity will be a freshman on Freshman Cheerleading squad. My duties include: take & report minutes of all meetings, prepare appropriate correspondence to school officials & others, secretarial duties as directed by the President(s) of the board. I am new to the board. Work: I work as a Lead Early Intervention Specialist. Outside work: I shuttle the kids around. (I have no life) Just kidding! Reason for supporting Booster Club: To help make our daughter’s cheerleading experience a good and positive one.
Treasurer: Jana Drake – I have been married for 20 years & have 1 child, Jilanne-16. Jilanne will be a junior on the Varsity Cheerleading squad. I am newly elected to the board. My duties include: “Money”- Green! Disburse funds, deposit, & reconcile all monies entrusted to “Haltom Spirit”. Keep written statements for Executive Board, & keep running ledger of fundraising transactions & individual accts Work: I am a secretary for AT&T. Outside work: I like to spend time with family and friends. Reason for supporting Booster Club: Supporting my daughter Jilanne.
Fundraising Chairperson: Irene Sacco – I have been married for 20 years to a wonderful man name Mark Sacco & we have 2 children: Britney, 17 and Cyndi, 16. Cyndi will be a junior on the Varsity Cheerleading squad. My duties include: arrange & coordinate fundraisers, keep a ledger of fundraising transactions & individual accounts to reconcile with Treasurer. This is my 2 nd year to serve as Fundraising Chairperson. I am very proud to have this position. I am really looking forward to this year. I have a lot of ideas for some fundraising needs. Of course, this means that we will not only be raising money for the Booster Club account, the coach’s account, but most importantly our Cheerleader’s individual accounts. YEAH!! Work: I am an Office Manager for Metro Buys Homes. Outside work: When I am not helping the Booster Club, I enjoy being with our daughters. They keep me busy with all their activities. I like watching reality shows, doing crafts, reading, and doing seek and find puzzles. Reason for supporting Booster Club: I support the Booster Club because I want to be involved with my daughter’s cheerleading. I also want to be a part of a group of wonderful people that feel the same way I do and want great things for their children. This is my way of volunteering and giving back to our community. I am always open to suggestions, so please let me know if you have any ideas that can help us make this the best year EVER!
Hospitality Chairperson: Stephanie Barton I have been married for 16 years & I have 2 children, Taylor, 15 and Jerad, 12. Taylor will be a sophomore on the JV Cheerleading squad. This is my 2 nd year as Hospitality Chairperson. My duties include: Plan all socials, i.e. Christmas Party, Parent/Cheerleader Tea, etc.; provide gifts for visiting and hosting cheerleaders at Varsity football games; organize a team to provide water at all football games; provide refreshments for general membership meetings, and other club activities, including refreshments for tryouts. Work: PCS- work for a bail bond company, and private process server. Outside work: My son & husband race every weekend, my son is a Jr. Dragster. I also like to spend time with family and go to the lake.

Publicity Chairpersons: Cindy Aguilar – I have been married for 2 yrs. and have 3 children, Jessica, 19, Kristin, 18, and Brittney, 15. Brittney will be a sophomore on the JV Cheerleading squad. This is my 2nd year as Publicity Chairperson. My duties include: Publicize upcoming events & announce honors awarded to squads & individuals via all media available, including FW Star Telegram, Mid Cities Daily News, Citi-Cable 36, and the school marquee; keep scrapbook(s) of all publications. Take pictures throughout the year and provide them to the Webmaster for the website, and create a slide show for the banquet & Welcome Tea. Work: I am a dental assistant my duties are assisting the dentist with all orthodontic treatment. Outside work: I love arts and crafts, spending time with my children, and Sat. nights are “date” nights for me and my husband. Reason for supporting Booster Club: It’s a lot of fun and I love being more involved in my daughter’s school activities. Also it gives me a heads up on all events, games, fundraisers, etc.

Newsletter Chairperson: Kim Westbrooks – I have been married for 18 years. I have 3 lovely children, Lindsay-15, Kaley-13, Logan-11. Kaley will be a freshman on the Freshman Cheerleading squad. My duties include: Create & publish monthly newsletter; create, maintain & distribute contact listings to all members & Coaches. This is my 1st year to do newsletter & I look forward to bringing you all the Buffs News! Work: Accounting. Outside work: I am very active in Watauga Elem. PTA, cake decorating, and yard work. Reason for supporting Booster Club: I thought it would be a great way to stay involved with Kaley’s activities.
Communications Chairperson: Dora Thrash – I have been married for 25 yrs in July. I have 3 children, Valerie-22, Garrison- 17, and Jillian-16. Jillian will be junior on the Varsity Cheerleading squad. This is my 2nd year on the board. My duties include: Form a committee from each squad (freshman, junior varsity, and varsity) to contact booster members as reminders of meetings & events as needed by email & telephone, perform any other communication duties as needed by the Executive Board. Work: School Secretary. Outside work: Kids, shopping, and the yard. Reason for supporting Booster Club: To stay involved with Jillian’s activities and make new friends.
Webmaster Chairperson: James Coats – I have been married for 8 years. I have 3 children. Chastity-14, Elijah-11, Nate-5. Chastity will be a freshman on the Freshman Cheerleading squad. My duties include: Update & maintain the http://www.orgsites.com/tx/ haltomcheer web site. Work: I am a HR Analyst for the City of Fort Worth. Outside work: People have time for that? Reason for supporting Booster Club: To stay connected with my daughter.

Haltom Spirit Booster Club, May 2008 Page 6 of 6 Spirit Sticks 1. Each Cheerleader is required to have 2 paper towel size spirit sticks for every Pep Rally. 2. May also need 2 toilet paper size spirit sticks for each cheer game, please see your captains early for instruction? 3. All spirit sticks MUST be filled FULL with candy, taped on both ends to ensure candy does not break through tissue paper when throwing into crowds, than decorated to show school spirit. NOTE: Start saving paper towel & toilet paper rolls NOW! Captains, how about a spirit stick decorating party? Each brings different items to decorate with, 3-4 bags of candy, and then everyone decorates together. Freshman & JV Cheerleaders NO BUSING TO or FROM AWAY FB GAMES: Cheerleaders will need OWN transportation, games normally start: FR 4:30 & JV 5:30 PM. Please start planning your transportation now.
