I hope your school will respond to this consultation and support the early introduction of the ultra low emission zone in London. Air quality in London is illegally and dangerously high.
“The research on exposure to traffic fumes and children’s lung growth shows that such exposure reduces lung growth, produces long term ill health and can cause premature death. We should be outraged that we are exposing our developing children to these obvious problems.” Chris Griffiths, professor of primary care and public health at Bart’s and the London School of Medicine, The Guardian, 4th April 2017
Thanks. Please also share this with parents and ask them to respond. This can count as an activity towards your STARS accreditation in June. From: TfL Consultations [mailto:[email protected]] Subject: Seeking your views on changes to the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in central London
Dear Sir or Madam
Transport for London and the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, would like your views on proposals to introduce the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in April 2019, 17 months earlier than the previously agreed September 2020 start date, to reduce harmful emissions to help clean up London's air.
To have your say visit tfl.gov.uk/airquality-consultation
Cars, vans, motorbikes, minibuses, buses, coaches and lorries will need to meet certain emissions standards or pay a daily emission charge to drive within the zone. The ULEZ will operate within the central London Congestion Charging zone, 24/7 every day of the year.
This consultation ends on Sunday 25 June.
Yours sincerely
Alex Williams Alex Williams Acting Managing Director
