Among which, Groupe Cifal, a French multinational company which provides business services to companies mainly in the oil sector, and the China Daily which supplied me with work in the French automobile industry.

Jan 06 – Dec 06 EFL Program Coordinator/Teacher

Employed by Sinoland Language and Culture Co., Beijing, to set up its English as a Foreign Language program. Duties included recruiting teachers and designing curricula for the various English courses offered by the company, as well as teaching English to Asian students of all levels and ages. As a native speaker of English, the post also involved a considerable amount of proofreading/polishing work for the company’s website and other advertising materials.

Jun 05 – Aug 05 Customer Service Advisor

Employed on a short-term basis by RMA International, Preston, to deal with their customers in Germany. This position involved telephoning clients in Germany who were having difficulties with payments on their credit cards and helping them find a suitable repayment plan. Translator/ Proofreader/Researcher

Whilst employed by Zaenker und Kollegen (translating and interpreting agency), Berlin, my duties included translating business- related texts, proofreading translated documents, researching various topics for interpreters to give them background knowledge of the Nov 03 – Dec subject, compiling glossaries of specialised terminology. 03

French Language Assistant

Employed on a short-term, full-time basis by Holiday Cottages Ltd, Earby, to deal with health and safety issues in their holiday homes in France. I was responsible for processing health and safety inspection reports made by area managers and informing the French property owners of any work or repairs to be carried out. Additional Information

Skills and achievements

I am a fast learner with a deep interest in foreign cultures. These attributes helped me attain a high standard in a broad range of languages. In addition to the year abroad required to complete my degree course, I have also spent one year living and working in Beijing. There, I had the opportunity to study Mandarin Chinese to a relatively high standard. As well as a reasonable degree of oral fluency, I also now have the ability to read and write Chinese well.

During my final year at university I received awards for best translation project and most productive year abroad, as well as a distinction for spoken German.

I work quickly and efficiently to ensure deadlines are met, and I pay good attention to detail, thus avoiding errors in my work. I am proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

Interests
