1. Required Supplies: In this class you will need the following supplies: *college-ruled spiral, at least 120 pages *map pencils * pocket folder *scissors * glue sticks *blue or black pens * notebook paper or construction paper (your choice)

All supplies are due by Friday, August 26. You are responsible for bringing supplies to class daily and for promptly replacing any supplies as needed during the year. Should you have problems obtaining these supplies by Friday, please bring a parent/guardian note.

2. Textbook: You will be assigned a textbook to keep at home for the year. We will use a classroom copy at school. You can also access an online edition as well as practice quizzes and games at the link below: www.texans.glencoe.com User Name: TEXAS, Password: 4h7phupucR

3. Assignments: Assignments and due dates are to be recorded daily in your Cub Planner. Assignments are posted at http://classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/jlrussell.

4. A. Homework is an important extension of the classroom learning experience. Assignments are accepted one day late for half credit.

B. Daily work: Students are expected to turn in daily assignments completed and on time. Students who do not finish their classwork should complete it at home. This should not be considered “homework,” as not all class members will find it necessary to complete it at home. Students are expected to finish all assignments, as they frequently become test/quiz material. You will be given the opportunity to hand daily assignments in one day late with point reduction in grade.

C. Major assignments: Students are expected to turn in major assignments completed and on time. There will be given an opportunity to hand in major assignments one day late with point reductions in grade:

5. Make Up Work: When you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the assignments, complete them, and place them in the “Late Box” along with your name and class period. The handbook states that you have the same number of days you were absent to complete the assignments and turn them in. Check my website for assignments to update your Planner.

6. Test days are Monday and Wednesday. Quizzes may be given on any day. You may have notebook and Planner quizzes in addition to content information quizzes.

7. Grading Policy: The breakdown of the average in this class is as follows: Major grades: 60% Daily grades: 40%

8. Tutoring is available any day except Tuesdays before or after school with at least 1 day advance notice.

9. Parent Connection Online Gradebook Access – Parents, you may view your child’s grades online, beginning Monday, August 29, using the Parent Connection. Registration information is available on Kleb’s webpage – http://classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/kleb. We encourage parents to take advantage of this method of monitoring your child’s academic progress.
