Vission ATOM Board BIOS setup for RS485 Modbus RTU Slave Port

The RS485 Modbus RTU communication port needs to be enabled via a BIOS setting. Please follow the directions below to setup this port.

1. Power Vission panel down. Connect PS2 Keyboard to the keyboard port shown below in Figure 1.

Figure 1 ( Keyboard connection) 2. Turn power back onto Vission panel. Immediately press and hold down the DEL key on the keyboard as panel begins to boot up. You will see the screen shown in Fig 2 momentarily.

3. The Vission will then boot to the BIOS setup utility Main screen (Figure 3). Release the DEL key on the keyboard.

Figure 3 (BIOS SETUP UTILITY Main screen) 4. Press the right arrow key on the keyboard once to navigate to the “Advanced Settings” screen. Then press the down arrow key until the “Onboard Device Configuration” selection is highlighted (Figure 4).

5. Press Enter on the keyboard to navigate to the Onboard Device Configuration screen. Press the down arrow key to highlight “SuperIO Configuration” (Figure 5)

Figure 5 (Onboard Device Configuration – SuperIO selection) 6. Press Enter on the keyboard to navigate to the SuperIO Configuration screen. Press the down arrow on the keyboard to highlight “Serial Port2 Address” (Figure 6)

7. Press Enter on the keyboard to bring up the Options box selections for Port2. Press the down arrow on the keyboard to select “2F8/IRQ3”. (Figure 7)

9. Press F10. A pop-up box will appear on the screen – asking you if you want to ‘Save configuration changes and exit setup?” Make sure ‘OK” is highlighted and simply press ENTER on keyboard, and the Vission panel will then reboot.

The RS485 Modbus RTU port should now be active. Insure that the Modbus node address is setup properly in the Vission Setup screen, and that the Modbus port setting are setup properly in the Vilter ONLY-- > Modbus Settings screen.
