2016 Livestock Judging Training and Competitions:

Training: March 23th, Thursday, 6:30 to 8:30, WSU Extension, Everett, Evergreen Room. We will practice judging hogs, sheep, and market steers in preparation for going to the April 2nd judging contest.

Judging Event: April 2nd, Saturday, North Central Washington Jr. Livestock Show, Moses Lake fairgrounds, 8:00 am registration. Judging at 8:30. IMPORTANT: I will drive over and those Intermediates or Seniors who want to go should contact me especially if you want a ride. Let me know if you plan to be there. We will warm up as a group about 7:15/7:30. I will send an email of trip details to those who are going.

Training: April 12th, Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30, at Chinook Farms, 10601 Elliott Rd., Snohomish. (mapquest or google a map for directions). For the first time we will practice judging a pen of live market steers and a pen of heifers. Dress for the rain and mud. If we have time we will look at some pigs, sheep or goats. Expect to have some great discussion!

Judging Event: April 16th, Saturday, Puyallup Spring Fair, 8:00 registration. We will meet at 7:00 in the Large Arena to go warm up as a group. Contact me if you need a ride. IMPORTANT: I will need to know who plans to go so our County 4-H office can get you (and if need be a parent) in free.

Training: May 23rd, Monday, at Arlington High School, FFA class room D117. Park back by the greenhouse. Focus will be on grading livestock and on sheep.

Judging Event: June 3rd, Friday, Puget Sound Jr. Livestock Show, Skagit County fairgrounds, Mount Vernon, 8:30 registration.

Judging Event: Stanwood Camano Community Fair, August 7th, Morning. A warmup training will be conducted prior to the judging contest.

Judging Event: Skagit County Fair, August 10th, P.M. Time - ? (see fair schedule)

Training: August 16th, Wednesday, 6:30 to 8:30, WSU Extension, Everett, Evergreen Room. Focus will be on oral reasons preparation and practice.

Judging Event: Northwest Washington State Fair, Lynden, August 20th, A.M. Time - ? (see fair schedule)

Judging Event: Evergreen State Fair. August 25th. A.M. Time - ? (see fair schedule)
