WHAT’S HAPPENING……………………..COQUITLAM CURLING ASSOCIATION

July 26, 2016

I hope that everyone is enjoying their time away from curling. This is an update of what has been happening since the finish of the 2015-2016 curling season.

I would like to assure all of our members that we have a CONFIRMED season with contracts for the upcoming season of 2016-2017.

To help us maintain and hopefully attract new curlers we have been in negotiations with the City of Coquitlam, Curl BC and the Coquitlam Curling Association Executive to obtain the following:

 We will confirm a schedule with our City ice staff and staff of Mike Merklinger or BJ Gagnon to assist in putting our ice in for the start of the season and to also have

bi -weekly or weekly checks with our ice staff to maintain the quality of the ice surface throughout the season.

 Committees have been formed to organize leagues for Young Adults on Friday Evenings – start time 9:30pm (Organizer – Stacy Holt) and Sunday Evenings – start time 6:30pm. (organizer – Delaney Kitching)

 We have been in meetings to get City Council /Staff to commit to us at least for a 3 year contract before any decisions are made regarding curling, so that we can have time to grow the club, make ice improvements, etc.

We will be advertising furiously over this next month – newspapers, social media, reader boards, Curl BC and word of mouth. Please do your part by supporting the club, talk it up with your co workers, neighbours, sports enthusiasts, etc. Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts talk up the Young Adults leagues we are trying to get going. We will all need to do our part to keep our club and to have our membership grow!!!!!

Confirmation and another update will be sent out to you all – End of August – First week of September.

Regards,

Earlene Graham President Coquitlam Curling Association Executive
