JOB POSTING- BARRY CONSERVATION DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR
Position Details: Full-time position. May include evenings and weekends. Compensation $12- $14 depending on experience.
Job Description: The Administrator is responsible for the District’s consistent achievement of its financial goals, as well as providing support for the day-to-day operations of the District.
DUTIES: Bookkeeping and financial management Plan and implement the fiscal year budget in cooperation with the Executive Director Conduct budget revisions and provide budget recommendations throughout the fiscal year Maintains accurate financial records and performs basic accounting procedures regarding District budgets and funds. Maintain credit card payments and online store and transfer payments to accounting software Make bank deposits and maintain cash box Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors meetings and other financial statements as needed Assist with the annual audit or financial review by providing needed documents and information to the auditor Back up accounting software weekly and back up other computer files monthly Coordinate payment of taxes with accountant Plan, coordinate, and conduct the annual tree sale and other fundraising events Maintains records, reports, and minutes Understands Federal, State and local laws affecting the work of the District Identifies sources and recommends actions to the Board to secure operating funds Provides fiscal oversight and financial reporting for all District projects Prepares and submits financial reports to Michigan Department of Agriculture and other grantors as required to maintain operations and grant agreements Maintains records of District equipment and facilities Works with the Executive Director as needed: Assists with district publications and communications, including weekly articles in the District’s Reminder column, newsletters, brochures, social media, and web posts. Coordinates requests for District assistance with local landowners, the NRCS District Conservationist and other resource agencies as needed. Assists with preparing an annual plan of work.
1 Assists with preparing a five-year resource needs assessment and reports on District progress toward its outlined goals. Compiles background information as needed to facilitate the decision-making and policy-making functions of the Board.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in natural resource and/or education- related fields. Clear, concise communication skills. Experience with basic accounting principles and practices. Working understanding of basic natural resource principles. Computer skills including Office, Acrobat, and Quickbooks. Ability to manage complex projects independently. Efficiency in organizing and completing multiple tasks. The Administrator must be bondable and must pass a Federal Security Background Investigation.
