COAP Executive Board MEETING MINUTES THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2017; 2PM HORRABIN HALL 60/QC 1420

Attendees – Dustin VanSloten, Margaret Taylor, Audrey Adamson, Kellie Esters, Jennifer Grimm, Bridget McCormick, Angela Bonifas, Scott Coker, Matt Bierman, Thomas Oliver Rosner

I. Approval of Minutes from January 12, 2017 Executive Board meeting – Approved (Esters, Grimm)

II. Financial Report - Balance as of 2/1/17 - $2,043.15

III. Executive Liaison Report – Matt Bierman

a. Things in Springfield are up and down. Dr. Thomas was in Springfield yesterday and spoke on behalf of higher education coalition.

b. Western Avenue will be re-done during the summer and will cause some road closures.

c. Fees & Room and board rate increases will be coming (less than 1% combined).

d. Sign up for MyBenefits online portal. Will be used for benefits choice period. Need to sign up before May at www.mybenefits.il.gov. Can call 844-251-1777.

e. Faculty contract negotiations are ongoing. f. President’s Executive Institute

a.i. Solicit corporate donations/support in return for educating their employees.

a.ii. Mayoral summits and corporate and education summits a.ii.1. Admission’s staff attends these meetings to see what the corporations are needing from WIU and their students. a.ii.2. Work on internships for students at these business as well.

IV. New Employees

a.i. Revisions made to letter & going to DPS for print. i. COAP Mentor Program

a.ii. Posted on website and will promote with an email to members j. COAP Breakfast

a.iii. Plan on fall - after labor day as a welcome back a.iv. Dustin will look into options

VI. New Business

k. COAP Professional Development Scholarship a.i. 2 applications (Roberta Smith & Justin Schuch)

a.ii. Discussed applicant materials. Selected Roberta Smith as recipient (Esters, Coker).

l. COAP Employee of the Year a.iii. Nomination form discussion.

a.iv. Will be posted to website and emailed to membership m. March 9 meeting will be in Quad Cities

a.v. Is 2pm too late? Decided to start meeting at 1:30pm with Joe Rives portion to start at 2pm.

VII. Announcements/Comments

n. Joe Rives Strategic Plan update will be March 9 in Quad Cities o. Open Forum with President is May 3 VIII. Adjourn (Esters, Coker) – 2:49pm
