PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

WILDLAND FIRE FIGHTER PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT UNIFORM TROUSERS

This product description is for the Uniform Trousers to be worn by male and female wildland fire fighting (WLFF) personnel as personal protection equipment (PPE).

Style. The WLFF PPE Uniform Trousers shall have a plain front with two front slant pockets, two rear welt pockets, two low profile cargo pockets (optional) with flap cover located on the side of the mid-thigh.

Salient Characteristics. The Uniform Trousers shall be available in male and female sizing and have the following salient characteristics:  Meet the requirements of NFPA 1975 and 1977.  Be certified to NFPA 1977.  Utilize a front button or snap closure with zippered fly with locking closure.  Two front slant pockets.  Two rear welt pockets.  Two low profile cargo thigh pockets with cover flaps (optional).  Gusseted crotch.  Seven belt loops, 2” wide.  Articulated knees.  Silicon crease.  Be compatible with turnout gear.

Fabric Characteristics. The basic fabric shall meet the minimum performance requirements using the test methods in Table I. Two fabrics that have demonstrated compliance with these criteria are Tencate S/469 in 7.7 oz. and Safety Components Sigma® Four StarTM in 6.5 oz.

Color matching. The color of the Uniform Trousers must be Navy (color chip 35044) or black per FED-STD-595.

Sizing. The Uniform Trousers shall be available in male and female sizes, based on waist sizes in hemmed or unhemmed lengths. The hemmed trousers shall be hemmed in accordance with normal commercial practice using flame resistant thread. The Uniform Trousers shall be available in a standard fit and a relaxed fit. For each waist size, the dimension of the “relaxed fit” seat circumference will be increased 1½” and the thigh circumference will be increased ¾”.

Workmanship. The Uniform Trousers shall be free of any defects such as holes, tears, misweaves, spots uneven dyeing, loose or skipped stitches, etc. The trousers shall be seamed with matching polyester thread.

Certification. The manufacturer shall have the trousers certified to the applicable standards. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery.

Regulatory requirements. The trousers shall be manufactured in compliance with the requirements of the applicable standards.

Packaging, packing and marking. Packaging, packing and shipping of the trousers shall be in compliance with procurement contract.
