1 Download Software, User & Installation Guide from Dealer web.

www.ariatech.com.au/gsm

Please read the installation guide. It recommends among other items:  Install near a window. (Or an outer wall, up high, significantly away from other equipment.)  Spread the antennas apart.  Earth the equipment. (Add an earth to the LG-Nortel Aria and/or iPECS also.)  Use a shielded Cat5 cable.  Add Ferrite cores.  Mount antennas vertically.  Check out the many more installation tips in the guide and reasons why signal strength can be poor.

(See Connection Sections 2, 3 & 4 and then jump to Section 16 if you have an older unit that you wish to upload the pre-programmed config file from the dealer web that permits all calls to dial out.)

4 Connected, now click Get Template.

If connections fail try another PC, try a PC with a COM port – not via a USB adaptor.

6.1 Config Tab. How to change SIM selection to last.

In default the selection is auto (which is round robin.) By changing the Routing to option 3 the iPECS system will choose SIM 2 (the SIM on the right handside) first and if this SIM is busy the next calls will go via the other SIM.

17 How to set incoming calls to different destinations.

Some units have a low Interdigit timeout. Change this value up to around 70 to 100. (Or more if required.)

Now in PGM 140 set the BRI lines to DID, PGM 145/2 =2 (Modify Using Flexible DID Conversion Table) and then set PGM 231 (index of the 3 digits entered as MSN 1 & 2) to the destinations you require.

18 How to program your unit to allows all calls.

Change Network 7 to the settings below. Section 10 above shows adding a permissible route.

Now Set the Template.

19 Now don’t forget to SET Template and save to your hard drive.

20 How to upload preprogrammed config file that allows all calls.

Some units may have these above settings however if you have a unit that requires such additional programming rather than going through section 10 & 16 you can just upload our pre-programmed configured file.

Download the BRI_RoutePermitAllCallsConfig.tfm file from the dealer web.

Via Unmanaged Programmer Software click File Open select the file then click Set Config. Wait for the GSM unit to reset then test.

The original config file on the dealer web that only permits 04 (mobile) calls is available on the dealer web if you wish to revert to this setup.

* Please note that this configuration file is still a generic pre-programmed setup. If you find numbers that can-not dial follow section 10 to add your own numbers.

21 Some Installation / Troubleshooting Tips.

As this document mentions at the beginning of this guide to download the installation guide. Each unit should be delivered with a guide to follow, if not here is a summary of some of the installation requirements:

1. Connect the antennas 330mm apart and insert SIM cards. 2. Connect supplied Safety Earth ground cable. 3. Power up and wait for unit to initialise. 4. Connect RJ45 straight through cable from TE of the unit to the PBX. (Scenario A) refer to other scenarios. 5. You will hear the unit click and detect its setup. 6. LEDs 22&23 will flash (75ms/3s on/off) when PBX is connected. 7. During initialisation LEDs 18 & 19 will flash once every 6 seconds while looking for a GSM base station. After a short while they will flash according to signal strength. 8. Go off hook and access the trunk of the unit. Dial a GSM number (the unit has been pre-programmed with all GSM prefixes to route via GSM) and you should hear the confidence tone.

Positioning the GSM-Route BRI Select a suitable location to install the GSM-Route BRI in order to optimise the signal strength. • on, or near an exterior wall, • close to a window, • on the top floor of the building. • at least 1 metre away from other sensitive electronic equipment. (see figure 1) • mount antennas vertically with a minimum distance of 330mm away from each antenna. (see figure 1)

The signal strength will be degraded if you install the GSM-Route BRI antennae: • on walls that contain a large amount of wiring, steel, or metal construction material. • on walls with unusually thick masonry. • in metal buildings or in rooms with large areas of metal. • mount the antennae horizontally

You must NOT • install your GSM-Route BRI outdoors. • expose the GSM-Route BRI to water or moisture, i.e. basements or outbuildings. • expose the GSM-Route BRI to direct sources of heat or cold e.g. air conditioning, heaters or direct sunlight • cover or place obstructions on or around the unit’s antenna.

Ultimately poor reception of a unit could be due to Network coverage and type of unit. • try our new 3G GSM units. • try another model, either our analogue or BRI units. • Do not use 3 or Vodafone SIM cards (3G only carriers) in our 2G-GSM only units.

Some units require upgrading to the latest firmware. • see fw(33) hosted on the dealer web. Fix for - ISDN LINE RELEASED No route to destination. • some require lengthening of the interdigit timer, this can be done via programming or by uploading the current config on our dealerweb.
