12. What do you require the funding for? (Please describe below max 100 words)

The funding will be used to create a comfortable environment at our Fresher’s Meet N’ Greet that the new Bass society members will hopefully feel comfortable in. One of the main aims of this event is to introduce the new team (committee) to our members and to play a few games (i.e. twister) to break the ice and get people talking. We’ll be inviting in a DJ to play some music and get the good vibes going. We will then give an update of what we are planning for the year and then hand out some flyers and other useful information. We will be selling member discount cards at £5 each in which our members can get discounts on a number of local businesses.

13. Referring to the Society Grant Policy how would your event meet the criteria to increase (max 500 words): a. Participation b. Diversity c. Development

Participation: This event will aid participation (and hopefully membership) of our society as it will allow students to get to know each other and existing people within the society, with the opportunity to find out more an join (we will be bring ipads for people to sign-up online if they haven’t already done so). If we ever put on events in the future e.g : DJ contests or concerts the members will feel more at ease and so be more willing to put themselves forward and get involved. Diversity: The event will be diverse and open to everyone. We will be inviting other societies and their members to join us, including faith and cultural socs to get our event out to a diverse audience which will hopefully encourage a more diverse membership within our society. We will also have the whole committee there who range in their gender and ethnicity; this will hopefully allow us to engage with a wider demographic of people. For instance, our Treasurer speaks Mandarin so he would be able to speak with students whose main language might not be English. Development: This event will help aid the personal development of members in the future because it allows us to get to know the members and gain an understanding of what their needs are. We will then put on events that cater to their needs I.e. employability & skills focused. For example, last year we gave members the opportunity to take photographs at our events and
