Tindley Summit’s First Week is a Success!

Tindley Summit’s first week went off without a hitch! Thank you to all families, scholars, teachers, administrators and support staff for working together to ensure we had a smooth opening. We appreciate all of your support and are looking forward to a wonderful year! 

The Summit staff has been working hard to instill a culture of high expectations for all scholars. Our youngest scholars have been practicing walking on the lines and showing off their “bubbles and ducktails” in the hallways. Teachers have been busy reinforcing that 100% of scholars need to follow expectations in order to achieve excellence!

If you haven’t been to one of our Morning Meetings, try to stop by and check one out! They occur from 8:00-8:30am. During the Morning Meeting we recite our creed, set expectations for the day, review the 7 Levels and celebrate being a college-bound scholar!

This is a friendly reminder that our first Parent University on August 28th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This session’s topic is entitled, Testing 101. Come learn about the various assessments your child will be taking and how to interpret the data. Teacher Spotlight on:

Academic Excellence, climbing to the top…Motivated, educated and we’ll never stop! Ms. Kenny Art and Music Kimberly Kenny can’t remember a time when she wasn’t either singing or playing the piano. She began singing in her father’s church as a young child. At an early age her parents knew she was uniquely talented and invested in musical ability. Growing up in such a nurturing, encouraging and freely creative environment fueled her thirst for music knowledge. Kimberly’s musical gifts have taken her across the nation. One of the highlights of her vocal career was performing at the World Famous Showtime at the Apollo theatre in Harlem, New York. She has earned and competed in several competitions, including, N.A.T.S (National Association for Teachers of Singing) where she placed 1st in the state of Indiana and 3rd in the Country for Classical singing. What sets her apart is not just her unique blend of Gospel, Opera and Jazz, but that she also writes and composes her own music as well. Kimberly has completed two gospel CD projects, “In Your Presence” released in 2006 and "More Than a Conqueror" released in 2009. She has a passion for education. Kimberly has a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Marian University and is currently pursuing her Master's in Education at Marian University as well. She considers music education a great passion of hers, and enjoys empowering students through an education in the arts. Outside of the classroom, Kimberly enjoys being a mom as well as spending time with her family and close friends!
