Biology Student Scholarships 2017

(Money can be used towards Fall 2017 semester—You must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Fall 2017 semester to qualify)

The Biology Scholarship Committee is requesting applications for the awards listed below. To apply for a scholarship complete an application form and have two Biology faculty members complete recommendation forms for you. Forms are available on the Biology Dept. website. We request that you submit your application via e-mail to Dr. Colleen Winters ([email protected]) in the Biology Department by 4 : 00 pm on Friday, February 17 th . Please pay close attention to the criteria listed below before you complete your application. Also be aware that listed amounts are approximate and actual award amounts may vary.

Betty Kennedy Dale Scholarship ~ $955.00 Criteria: Must be a biology major. Beyond that the award is based on GPA and letters of recommendation from faculty.

Biology Alumni Scholarship ~ 2 scholarships @ ~ $2267.00 each Criteria: Junior or senior biology major with a GPA of 3.5 or better, who has completed 75 or more credits at Towson. Students should be actively involved in research and/or be carrying out biologically oriented volunteer service to the department or the broader community.

James Edward Ewig Memorial Scholarship for Academic Achievement by a Senior ~ $1734.00 Criteria: Must be a junior or senior biology major. Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

James Moniodis Scholarship for Returning Major - ~ $1599.00 Criteria: Returning biology major with senior standing during the upcoming academic year. Students must have a 3.0 overall GPA and 3.3 biology GPA. Eight hours of 300 to 400-level biology elective at Towson University must have also been completed. Students should be actively involved in extra-curricular activities for which no academic credit or remuneration is received.

Lois D. Odell Scholarship for Outstanding Transfer 2 Scholarships @ ~ $1692.00 each Criteria: Transfer biology major with at least 55, but not more than 65 credits, from other two or four year institutes. Overall GPA of 3.2 or greater in at least 30 credits at Towson with preference given to students who have completed 9-12 credits of 300 to 400-level biology electives at Towson.

Mary Scarbrough-Carr Scholarship- ~ $2718.00 Criteria: Junior or senior biology major with a GPA of 3.5 or better, who has completed 75 or more credits at Towson.
