RE: Martha Ruggieri Foundation Scholarship for 2015 – 2016 Sixth and Seventh Grade Students at Holy Family School
Dear Mrs. Braca:
The Martha Ruggieri Foundation has interest in providing a scholarship to a worthy 5th and 6th grade student currently attending Holy Family School.
It is the intention of the foundation to honor the memory of my deceased wife, Martha Ruggieri. As you know, Martha contributed to the wonderful success that Holy Family School enjoyed for many years. Martha impacted the lives of many students with her wonderful approach to children. The students gave her an extraordinary remembrance celebration when she passed away. She was very influential in the educational, social and religious development of all students. Martha supported the educational objectives of Holy Family and supported the caring and child based philosophy that was demonstrated daily by the family of administrators, teachers, aides, parents and students at Holy Family.
We recognize that many families choose a public education available in the middle school of PAHS for economic reasons. It is our intent to incentivize the families of the 5 th and 6th grade students to continue their child’s Catholic education at HFS to foster religious continuity and ongoing development. One of the Foundation’s objectives is to make an annual decision relative to continuing the scholarship or any part of the scholarship beyond the original award to 5th grade students.
I’m excited to announce that for the 2015-2016 academic year, the Foundation will provide a scholarship award. for a new 5th grade student and for a 6th grade student, provided the student and family meet the criteria outlined within this letter. The specifics of awarding the scholarship are:
1. Eligible Students –Two students for the 2015-2016 academic year. One currently enrolled in the 5th grade and one currently enrolled in the 6th grade of Holy Family School.
2. Scholarship Amount – up to $3,625, per student for the 2015-2016 school year.
3. Students are to complete the attached application and return with a completed PSAS application no later than February 28,2015 to:

Phoenixville, PA 19460 4. Students must demonstrate the following characteristics: (a) Integrity, (b) Community, Social Involvement, (c) Financial Need and (d) Successful Academic Results with a Holy Family School recommendation.
As you can see academic achievement is considered but not the sole determinant of the award.
Martha loved all children and this scholarship is intended to honor her memory while allowing a worthy child the opportunity to continue their elementary education in a Catholic environment. We are seeking your help in reviewing the applications and selecting up to three worthy candidates.

Hopefully we could meet the final candidates to interview them in a panel format. Of course, parent(s) may observe the process.
