Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter presents a study of how people deal with a personal moral struggle. It features several strong characters: Hester Prynne, Reverend Dimmesdale, Pearl, and Roger Chillingsworth.

Select one of these main characters and write a character sketch, describing him or her as completely as you can. Physical description is important, and you might also concentrate on these areas:  Personal qualities  Behavior: what do they do, how their behavior supports the personal qualities you mentioned, how others perceive his /her behaviors?  Actions: what happens to this person as a result of his/her actions? What discoveries does he/she make about him/herself?

Make sure you use specific examples from the novel, direct quotes with citations are best. You need an introduction mentioning the author & title of the book, body with specific examples and a conclusion.
