THE LORD’S DAY - OCT 17, 2010

Good morning! It is a real joy to greet you in the lovely name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are certainly welcomed, wanted, and needed in our celebration of wor- ship this morning. Let there be no mistake; we do NOT subscribe to the definition of sin as given in Tom Tapp’s “tongue in cheek” cartoon above. Thank you for choosing to spend this Lord’s Day with us at West End; and we pray you and your family will be blessed enough to want to come back. WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS Normally on Wonderful Wednesdays, our Family Life Center Gym is opened at 4:30 for various youth, chil- dren, and adult activities; and Classes for children, youth, and adults all begin at 7:00.

However, this Wednesday our Youth Group will host a BONFIRE and HOT DOG ROAST, STARTING AT 6:00. Donations will be appreciated to help our young people in some of the expenses at the Xtreme Youth Con- ference. The Children are well taken care of in Classes; Jordon is dealing with “Miracles” in “Youth Group” and Professor Paul has started a series of lessons on “Prophe- cy”; and you are certain to be challenged to live for The Lord in these last days.

STUFF ‘N THINGS COMIN’ UP The West End Youth Group will be attending the Xtreme Youth Conference in Gatlinburg during the Christmas Holidays in December. This conference is op- erated and presented by the Youth Ministries of The First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Georgia (Johnny Hunt, Pastor). You are invited and encouraged to help sponsor one or more of these great young people with the expenses. Due to the fact that many of them will miss several days work during the school break, it is suggested that a full scholarship could be $200.00; and any portion of that will be greatly appreciated.

The Hot Dogger Bonfire this Wednesday is one of these; and our “Fall Festival” at 5:00 pm on Sunday, Oc- tober 24 is another. The Fall Festival is dated October 24, since Halloween comes on Sunday; and it has been deemed wise to postpone service that night. (Most peo- ple will “celebrate” Halloween on Saturday night; but those for whom you probably need to be home will come around on Sunday).

The Newport and Cocke County Senior Citizens Or- ganization will host a conference on “aging” this Thursday from 9:00-12:00 in our Family Life Center. This has been well publicized in the local media outlets; and you are in- vited and encouraged to attend this meeting. A mass meeting and exhibits will be featured in the gym and classes will be held in the four classroom of the Life Cen- ter.

If you would like to reserve the Gym or Kitchen fa- cilities for parties or meetings, please inform Pastor Tom or Secretary Charlene as soon as possible. There is a sign-up calendar on the wall next to the secretary’s of- fice which you can check for previous reservations. Be planning ahead for your Christmas or Thanksgiving par- ties and family gatherings. This also includes borrowing tables and chairs.

As we prepare to take the hyper-leap into internet broadcasting, and improve our radio “bradcasting” equip- ment; several of our control room staff will be attending an all-day audio/video seminar in Knoxville this Saturday, October 23. THE CHILDREN ARE LISTENING SO, LET’S MAKE IT PLAIN

Your children are welcomed and wanted in our sev- eral aspects of Children’s Church. Lessons are written and designed to present Bib- lical Truths on their levels by wonder- ful dedicated teachers and workers. The overall age group is concerned with Age 4 – Grade 4; and it is divid- ed into two groups on Sunday Morning. Dyann Bible and her crew take the younger children and Lisa Ottinger and her staff work with the older group. They leave the main auditorium right after “Shake ‘n Howdy Time” in the Morning Service (about 11:20).

They leave the auditorium at 6:20 in the Evening Service; and go straight to their classes at 7:00 on Wednesday Evening.

Please bring your children to this amazing, soul- winning ministry. They simply cannot come by them- selves; they need caring parents, grandparents, and guardians to bring them into the awesome presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in Children’s Church!
