November Meeting Date –November 22 Place – – Arts & Entertainment Center, McCoole’s Restaurant, Quakertown Time – 5:30 Networking, 5:50 Business Meeting, 6:15 Dinner, 7:15 Program Menu –Lasagna de jour or Grilled Wild Mushroom Chicken. Also included is pita with humus, dessert, and coffee or tea Cost - $25 Program –Meredith Berchall, Alzheimer’s disease Care Giver. She will relate her experiences. You can make your reservation by calling Cathy Somich – 215-536-8526. RESERVATIONS OR CANCELLATIONS SHOULD BE MADE NO LATER THAN 4:00 pm ON NOVEMBER 20. PLEASE NOTE: after you reserve if you are unable to attend the meeting, you are responsible for the meal payment.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It’s hard to believe that the Holiday Season is already here! While in the midst of shopping, baking and decorating, let’s take a moment to reflect on all of our blessings and to remember those less fortunate by bringing a donation of non-perishable food or personal items for the Quakertown Food Pantry to the November meeting.

As is our tradition, December will once again find us celebrating the holidays with our Upper Perk and Souderton/Telford sisters! You can sign up for the dinner at our meeting on the 22nd. Also please be sure to call me soon to reserve your seat at the “Afternoon Tea” for Alzheimer’s on Sunday November 20th….it will be a lovely afternoon.

Also included is mixed green salad, dessert, and coffee or tea. A cash bar will also be available. Cost - $28 Program – Upper Perkiomen High School Women’s Chorus. It is a tradition of the Upper Perkiomen Club to hold an ornament exchange. If you wish to participate, please bring a wrapped ornament (value $5) with you name insert inside the package. Baskets for each club’s Christmas project will be circulated.

Local News Board Actions The following actions will need to be ratified at the November Membership meeting. As part of our Holiday Outreach our club with match the total donations for the Food Pantry collected at the Holiday Party. The Board approved renewing our membership ($150) in the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce

Local Projects Lottery Calendars Our proceeds from the October Calendars were $706.40. Checks to the winners are being mailed. Thanks to all who participated in this project. BonTon Care-to-Share booklets for November 9 – 12 Our proceeds from the booklet sale is currently $115. Hopefully those of you who purchased booklets are checking out the sales at BonTon.

Holiday Outreach We will collect nonperishable items for the Quakertown Food Pantry at the November meeting. A basketfor monetary donations will be passed at the Holiday Party on December 13. Non-perishable items include: canned vegetables, fruits, pastas, juice bottles or boxes, paper towels, Kleenex, small toiletry bottles from hotels etc., soap. Also if you have extra reusable grocery bags, the pantry will accept those. You can bring your items in one of these bags.

Individual Development Workshop Our club will hold an ID workshop on January 14 at the Holiday Inn Express, Quakertown from 8:30 – 4:30. Cost is $25. Participants will need to bring their own lunches. We are fortunate to have 3 certified instructors. Toni Rubic is coordinating the workshop. If you plan to attend, please contact her at 215-536-8080 [email protected].

Call to Action If anyone knows of organizations or causes that could use our financial or time assistance, please provide Sheryl with the address and contact information. We have funds from our previous paddle raffles that can be used if financial assistance is needed. Please see that this information is given to Sheryl by January 1 so that the Board can take appropriate action.

2 Halloween Parade – October 23 Thanks to all who helped with the parade – decorations, wardrobe, marchers, and drivers. A special thanks to Toni Rubic for coordinating the event. I am happy to report that we came in 4thin our division. Here are a few pictures from the parade. Upper Left – marchers, signs in hand, get ready for the formation in Division 3. Quakertown Event - Afternoon Tea to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Month

On Sunday November 20 from 1:00 – 3:00, Sheryl and Missy will host an afternoon tea in their home. Menu will be Sandwiches, Scones, Cake and of course a selection of Teas. Cost is $20 or your donationexceeding the initial cost. There is limited seating, so reservations are required. Please call 215- 536-2914 or email [email protected] to guarantee your seat. Deadline for reservations is October 16.

District 11 Fall Meeting The Fall District meeting will be held on October 22 at the Montgomery Township Events Building. Lila Thomson and Kathy Fletcher were remembered at the annual Memorial Service. Virginia Bailey from the Central Montgomery Club was endorsed by the district for BPW/PA Recording Secretary. Quakertown received the Bernice Maxwell Issues ManagementAward for our program featuring Amanda Reiss, Special Olympics representative, who always” lets her light shine”. Sheryl receives the Award from District Directors Joanne Hersh and Donna Jones.
