WORK EXPERIENCE:

BH Architects 3326 Davidsonville Road Davidsonville, MD 21035 From February 2007 to April 2013 Position: Technical Architect, Part-time/As-needed 6 to 40 hours/wk. My primary responsibilities are to review construction drawings and documentation, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil reviews, and to evaluate progress from pre-charrette design through final submittals. My secondary responsibility is to track and provide oversight of construction for Air Force housing renovation in Japan. Some of the tools I use are ftp sites, Attolist, Excel, WordPerfect, Internet, AutoCAD and e-mail.

Atlantic Design Group, Inc. 8940-F Route 108 Columbia, MD 21045 From October 2008 to January 2009 Position: Architect, 40 hours/wk. I was tasked with the development of four projects at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. I coordinated architectural and engineering efforts and performed the associated architectural compilations for each project. I prepared the preliminary spatial layout for the total redesign of Smoke Bomb Hill Dental Clinic at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which included the reconfiguration of the parking lots to comply with the Department of Defense Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings while designing for LEED credits. I documented the existing conditions of the Clinic, formed alliances and coordinated with equipment suppliers, scrutinized the applicable codes and criteria requirements and wrote a portion of the Work Plan Narrative. I prepared all necessary documentations for a small storage room renovation project. I designed an open air 100 foot diameter martial arts arena pit with a fabric roof structure and resilient ground cover, facilitated the hiring of a specialist for the design and structural calculations of the space frame, put together a cost estimate and compiled warrantee information. I worked on the replacement of an armory storage vault which included the creation of a new loading dock and the renovation of connective storage areas and offices. Some of the tools I used were AutoCAD versions 2004, 2006, and 2008, Excel, WordPerfect, Internet, scanner and e-mail.

Andrews Air Force Base 3710 Fetchet Ave. Andrews AFB, MD 20762 From January 2005 to January 2007 Position: Architect/Housing Project Manager, GS-12, 40 hours/wk. I performed as a base project manager in planning and design of military family housing whole neighborhood projects for new construction, renovation and improvement projects to include architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil. My primary responsibility was to provide technical support and to provide a link between personnel that may have direct impact on the development of the work. I coordinated with engineers and other disciplines. I scheduled, conducted, and recorded site/facilities surveys and inspections, reviewed product, drawing, specification and shop drawing submittals and recommended timely and economical solutions for a variety of design and functional opportunities. I ascertained compliance with the contract documents, codes and regulations and verified that the base received what they bought. I produced cost estimates for a portion of the base's 25 yr. master plan and edited the statement of work templates and provided base access to prime contractor and subs. Target Corporation 1000 Nicollet Mall, TPN-11D Minneapolis, MN 55403 From March 1999 to January 2005 Position: Architectural Designer, 40 hrs/wk. My primary responsibility was to create a set of quality construction documents for Target’s unique retail stores. While Target's prototype stores are single wythe CMU, their unique stores range from CMU with brick veneer to tilt-up panels with brick veneer, to architectural pre-cast panels, to corrugated metal panels, with and without windows and EIFS or stucco trim. Types of unique stores that I worked on were tenant fit-out, remodels, take-overs, freestanding, in malls with zero lot lines, and LEED certified stores. I worked closely in coordination with the design team. I worked to improve the integrity of and partnered with my team to create projects that were beautifully done. I reviewed various building codes and state amendments to the codes throughout the United States and researched building materials and techniques. Through observing the bid negotiation process and preparing drawings, specifications and cost estimates I learned the importance of accuracy. I visited several stores to observe construction, was an active member of the sustainability design team. I planned and coordinated a Construction Specifications Institute meeting held at and about Target Corporation. Some of the tools I used were: Micro station, AutoCAD, Excel, Photoshop, PowerPoint, ftp sites, scanner, Prolog Web, Outlook and Word Perfect.

Korsunsky, Krank and Erickson Architects 300 First Avenue North Minneapolis, MN 55401 From February 1998 to March 1999 Position: Intern Architect, 40+hrs/wk. I worked on two iconic projects, both located in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. My tasks on the very impressive University of Minnesota's McNamara Alumni Center were to produce architectural drawings of the copper clad protruding balcony wall, the two story elevator and surrounding interior water feature in Memorial Hall, the complex ceiling and wall configurations that concealed the Audio-visual equipment of the Great Room, and detailing the supports for the existing entrance arch reused from the old field house. I was responsible for researching the UL wall assemblies for the main elevator core and the layout of the restrooms for accessibility. The Alumni Center was published in several magazines including "Architecture Minnesota" (July/August 2000). The Great Lakes Center is a 16-story retail building built in 1927 with a warehouse addition in 1964. I helped develop the as-built documentation, the mixed-use schematic spatial plan and the parking design for the lower level. Other projects I worked on involved the coordination of structural layout with the design intent of a three story office complex and attached parking garage, and detailing for replacement of windows in a school expansion project. I was involved with planning of the in-house educational seminars. The tools I used: AutoCAD, Word Perfect, FAX machine and Outlook.

HAY DOBBS 821 Marquette Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55402 From September 1997 to February 1998 Position: Intern Architect, 40+ hrs/wk. After studying the industries process flow, I came up with a spatial plan and put together the construction drawings for the expansion of an industrial facility made of pre-cast panels. I also documented spatial inventories for tenant fit-outs for a local Mall and developed a preliminary specification for a remodel project at the State Government's Law Center. The tools I used: AutoCAD, Apple based CAD system, Word Perfect, FAX machine and e-mail.

Architectural Design Partners 119 North Fourth Street Minneapolis, MN 55401 From September 1996 to August 1997 Position: Intern Architect, 40 hrs/wk. I reviewed the code, determined the buildable area of the site, coordinated with the consulting engineers and the building official, put together the construction drawings for issue, and responded to the city's permit review comments for the Village Health Care Center, a senior rehabilitation facility in Missoula, Montana. I prepared drawings for Goodman Corporate offices in Chaska, MN and the accompanying high-end custom furnishings. I prepared a kitchen layout for Sydney's Pizza and reviewed shop drawings. Some of the tools I used were AutoCAD, WordPerfect, FAX machine and Outlook.

AEC, P.C. 2617 Columbia Road South Grand Forks, ND 58201 From September 1995 to August 1996 Position: Intern Architect, 50+ hrs/wk. I performed as a CADD technician in the preparation of as-built documents and I created a model of Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. I was primary CADD person for a double wythe brick AFL/CIO memorial in Grand Forks, a Bag Plant in Sisseton, SD built of pre-cast sandwich panels, an addition to the Water Treatment Plant for Grand Forks/Trail counties in North Dakota consisting of pre-cast double T construction and also the University of North Dakota Recycling Center which is aluminum siding on steel frame. Some of the tools I used were AutoCAD, Excel, WordPerfect, FAX machine and e-mail.

Grand Forks Air Force Base Grand Forks AFB, ND 58207 April 1994 to September 1994 Position: Architect - in – Training: GS-11, 40 hrs/wk. My primary obligation was to renovate an office/warehouse building into a Mobility Center for deployment of enlisted personnel. I determined the layout and flow of personnel for the training rooms, supply and deployment areas. I wrote the specifications and determined the finish materials in all of the spaces. I was in charge of adding central air conditioning to the Officer’s Administration Building. I determined the locations of privacy fences to be added to the yards of Officer’s homes. I reviewed consultant’s drawings for the renovations of several base projects.
