Documents required for SELF-EMPLOYED WORK

(Includes businessmen, merchants, artisans, managers or highly qualified employees, partners and consultants in Italian firms, self-employed professionals, sports athletes, entertainment industry artists)

A - Documents required for businessmen, merchants, artisans

1. Visa application form. 2. One recent passport-style photo. 3. Passport or travel document valid for at least three months after the visa expiry date (Please note: the passport should have at least 2 blank pages for visa and stamps of custom authorities). 4. Return-trip booking or ticket. 5. Nulla Osta issued by the competent authorities (“Questura”) in Italy. 6. Certification of the available means for entrepreneurial, commercial or artisan activity, issued by the competent Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Italy. 7. Proof of economic means: business bank statements, a business income tax return and a business notice of assessment for the previous year. These means should not be less than the minimum level set by the Italian legislation for exemption from health services contributions (Euro 8,400). 8. Proof of availability of lodging in Italy: a purchase/rental contract or a letter of invitation from a relative or a friend who is permanently residing in Italy. The letter of invitation has to be emailed or faxed from Italy to the Consulate General by the person inviting, together with a copy of his/her picture ID. 9. Visa fee in Canadian dollars payable only by cash or money order (made out to the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver). Please visit our website for current fees.

Certificate of registration of the company issued by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, certifying that the company legally acts for at least three years. 7. A copy of the declaration of responsibility that was submitted by the company’s legal representative to the Italian Regional Employment Administration (“Direzione Provinciale del Lavoro”) and to the Labour Policy Service (“Servizio Politiche del Lavoro”) certifying that there do is no subordinate work relationship with the foreign citizen. In case of self-employed professionals, a declaration issued by competent Italian professional association certifying the right of the applicant to carry out the corresponding professional activity. 8. Declaration of the company’s legal representative certifying that the applicant compensation is higher than the minimum level set by the Italian legislation for exemption from health services contributions (Euro 8,400). 9.
