What are you going to remember about this summer?

How many of us have great hopes for the summer. The winter has been long and now we are anxious for these three brief months of warm weather, time outside or time on the water— especially water that isn’t frozen. But, when the summer ends, how quickly the memories fade and we roll right into fall.

This summer, I am planning a summer to remember. I want us to have an experience that we will remember this fall and winter. That experience is in the Word.

During our confirmation ceremony, our young confirmands recited some of their 50 Bible passages they had learned. It is a great memory and a great gift to have God’s Word stored up in our hearts. Starting June 23, each Sunday, we will focus on one particular Bible passage. Throughout the week, you will be given various devotional thoughts to help you put that word in your heart.

By the end of summer, it is my prayer that you will have at least 10 Bible passages in your heart. Then, this fall, you will truly say—That was a summer to remember!

MEN’S CLUB

The Redeemer Men's Club had their meeting on Tuesday, May 14, with only seven members present. Guy Klopatek and Bill Cook furnished the refreshments.

We had a short business meeting, with no games played. Guy reported that the Potato Pancake Supper earned about $430. We then made plans for our annual get together with the St. Peter church of Schofield. The event will be held on June 24, 2013 at Redeemer, rain or shine. All members are welcome.

The Men's Club invites all male Church members to join us on the second Tuesday of every month.

LADIES GUILD

Ladies Guild met on Monday, May 6, with 8 ladies present. Pastor did devotion on I Peter 2:18- 25.

Quilters are continuing to provide quilts to the hospital. A very nice thank you note from a recipient was read. A request has been made by LWMS that quilts be sent to Zambia. Dick Seufzer made crosses for the confirmands.

The Ladies Guild would like to give a big thank you to everyone who donated, help set up and take down and who worked the Rummage Sale. It was a huge success and certainly would not happen by itself. All items not purchased were taken to Dime and Dollar.

The Guild’s next meeting will be Thursday, June 6 for a luncheon at Hill of Bean. Guild will be off for the summer; next meeting is scheduled for September 9.

Respectfully submitted Louise Wright

ELDER’S REPORT

United in Christ

Our Church family has shown so many times, and in so many ways, that we are united. We are united, because we trust in the word of God. When we worship together and enjoy fellowship together, we unite as a family of believers should. When we pray together, study God's word together, and serve together, we are united. When we forgive together, we show the greatest gift of unity, that gift would be love.

Our Triune God is the greatest example of unity there is. God the creator of the heavens and earth, gives us his Son, and his sacrifice, and the Holy Spirit, to cause us to have faith, hope, and love. All of these free gifts are what brings about our unity in Christ.

We are united together in our church family as equals. God doesn't play favorites in his family of believers. (Galatians 3:28) "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus". We all share the same forgiveness, because in God's sight we are equally sinful. None of us can feel that we are more deserving of God's grace than any other member of God's family. None of deserves God's grace. (Romans 3:23). "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God".

So as we travel together, in unity of faith, because we are united in Christ, let us encourage each other and continue to meet together. Let us strive to make our church family stronger, and larger, as we are instructed in God's commission for us.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of our fathers, as we celebrate that tradition on June 16.

Don Arneson, Chief Elder

LEARNING CENTER

Great News and much to my delight, the Learning Center has received a rating of 5 from Youngstar!! It has been a long and tedious road to get there, and to finally receive our 5 rating is a great joy. The teachers have all done an excellent job preparing for Youngstar and deserve your thanks and praise.

The Learning Center graduation is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, at 6:30pm. A light supper will be provided, but please let me know if you would like to attend so we can plan food accordingly. We are also scheduled for a Family Day on Friday, May 31.

And the days just keep on going. School is almost out, so this means that we begin our summer session at Redeemer. Things are sure to busy, busy, busy!!!
