Newly Improved Process Sensors On-line Thermal Imaging Camera System Surveyor Model for Temperature Measurement and Control

The amazingly versatile and newly improved fully radiometric, PSC Surveyor thermal imaging camera system offers 125Hz speed with a high resolution 25u pixel FPA detector in an ultra compact design.

Continuous manufacturing processes can be observed with the use of the Surveyor camera for industrial product measurements in the plastic, paper and wood industry, flat glass production, solar cell and semiconductor processes, metal treatment and material coating applications. The Surveyor camera system fully integrates a measurement and control scheme for detecting hot or cold spots of bulk materials on conveyor belts. Network integration tools help to integrate the PSC Surveyor into factory floor automation systems. The heavy duty stainless steel cooling jacket with air purge protects the camera in harsh environments. The PSC Surveyor camera can be combined with pyrometers and blackbody sources for smart temperature observation systems (automatic online recalibration) to provide the highest calibrated accuracy available on the market today.

Equipped with a wide temperature range from -20 to 900°C, this fully radiometric device provides single shot or image sequences of thermal images for the temperature mapping or profiling of the target area. These thermal images or series of images ( i.e. movie files) can be stored in a network file location for later retrieval and analysis and can be accessed by other computers on the network in real time.

The Surveyor, with new state of the art optical and electronic design, uses USB 2.0 interface for real time thermography and infrared video recording with a 125 Hz frame rate. Ethernet ready or fiber optic connectivity is offered for long distance transmission along with the use of I/O modules with multiple relays, voltage or current outputs for process control applications. User selectable shapes can be assigned to specific areas (ROI’s – Regions of Interest) that can be overlaid atop the displayed thermal image and can be used to control temperature of multiple areas across the target. The PSC Surveyor camera system is water-proof and can be equipped with exchangeable optics of 6°, 23° or 48° with adjustable focus capabilities.

The Surveyor can easily detect faults of circuit continuity during reverse bias testing of solar cells and is ideal for automotive, R&D and PCB applications as it can immediately identify thermal anomalies of troublesome PCBs in test stations, finding hot spots on automotive brakes and clutches during testing to analyze thermal effects and stresses on mechanical parts. The high thermal sensitivity (NETD 0.08 K with 23° FOV) enables the Surveyor camera to present the finest temperature details of an object. Accessories for adaptation to a wide range of industrial and scientific applications are available.

An intuitive, simple to use, comprehensive Windows based software package has a recording function for radiometric videos, snap shots, analysis and post processing of infrared images/ videos, as well as activation as a sophisticated high speed infrared line scan camera system. Remote control of the infrared camera and complete set up of all its parameters are possible via a PC.

The operator can select movable spots with crosshairs and programmable measurement areas with automatic display of a maximum, minimum or an average value. Temperature profiles along defined lines placed on the thermal image can be shown in separate graphs. The PSC Surveyor- Connect software offers a selection of 6 different color palettes and a variety of ready to use measurement and display layouts. The user can download improved updates of the PSC Surveyor- Connect software via the Process Sensors Website www.processsensorsIR.com Control outputs and camera integration flexibility are achieved with use of a Process Interface (PIF out) with 0-10 VDC scaled linear output for alarm activation or can be switched to an interface input (PIF in) that allows analog remote control of emissivity adjustments, triggered saved images and other functions. A DLL gives engineers the opportunity to implement the thermal images into customer specific software programs.
