NOTICE OF OPEN POSITION - TEMPORARY

Position Title: Educational Assistant IV – Special Education LRC - Bilingual

Filing Deadline: September 23, 2016

Classification: Classified, Temporary, Part-Time Position

Location: Edwards Elementary School

Start Date: As soon as possible after hire End Date: June 20, 2017

Hours/Days: 6.5 hours per day when school is in session

Wage: $13.12 - $14.75 per hour (Range 7 of 2016-17 Classified Wage Schedule, current employees see your contract) Family medical, dental and vision; retirement and leave benefits.

Description: Provide academic and behavioral support to special education students as directed by the Special Education teacher. Assist with clerical duties of the supervising teacher.

Requirements: Associates degree or minimum 72 college credits. Possess (or obtain by start date) current medic first aid card. Understanding of various disabilities. Must be able to: (1) become MANDT certified; (2) assist in positioning of students; (3) work with elementary students with extreme behavior; (4) follow prescribed medical, feeding and emergency protocols; and (5) work independently and maintain positive relationships with staff, specialists, students, and parents. Employment contingent upon fingerprinting.

Qualifications Desired: Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills strongly desired, flexible, and willing to do a variety of jobs. Relates well to students and staff. Experience with students with a learning disability. Flexible, adaptable and organized.
