Description Joanna Turner ‘late of Plymouth, Devon, but now of the Hamlet of Saint Thomas by Launceston’

Bequests:

‘Many Years ago I lent to my late Brother-in-Law, John Symons, then of Germansweek, but since deceased, One hundred and Forty Pounds, which sum is still owing to me from the executors of his Will. Now I give the said Sum unto the three Sons of the said John Symons’ as follows:  £50 to William  £50 to John  to Thomas, the residue

 ‘There is secured to me by Mortgage from Edward Barker late of Plymouth, Wheelwright, deceased, the Sum of One hundred pounds’; this sum together with ‘all my estate and interest in the Dwellinghouse, Shop and hereditaments charged therewith’ to go to testator’s niece Jane Turner ‘who resides with me’, and her executors, administrators and assigns, on trust to invest the money at interest and apply the interest, during the respective minorities of the four daughters of testator’s nephew William Turner of Tamar Town, Joanna Jane, Mary Grace, Elizabeth and Maria, towards their maintenance and education or otherwise for their benefit, ‘in such proportions as my said Niece may think fit’; as each of the 4 reaches 21, on trust to pay her £25, after which she will be entitled to no further interest from the £100; if one or more of the nephew’s 4 daughters dies under 21, the survivors of the 4 to share equally the sum that would have gone to the deceased daughter[s]; the interest which may be in arrears on these sums of £140 and £100, to go to executor; niece Jane Turner’s written receipt to be effectual discharge on payment of the sum of £100

 to niece Jane Turner, her executors, administrators and assigns absolutely, residue of personal estate and ‘unto the said Jane Turner her heirs
