SILK CITY STRIDERS Board of Directors Meeting April 29, 2012

I. CALL TO ORDER A. The board meeting was held at the Hungry Tiger Restaurant, 120 Charter Oak Street, Manchester, and was called to order at 2:21 p.m. by Treasurer John Sloan.

II. ATTENDANCE A. Board Members i. Present: John Sloan (Treasurer), Mike Fromerth (Secretary), Bekkie Wright (Ex-Officio), Sue Leslie (Ex-Officio), Barry Stoner (Ex-Officio), Karen Saunders ii. Absent: Rick Chromik (co-President), Mitch Bielenda (co-President), Heidi Chromik (Vice President), MaryLou White (Ex-Officio), Dani Kennedy, Cathy King B. Club Members:

III. OLD BUSINESS A. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES i. Minutes from February 26th were approved unanimously. ii. Will be submitted to webmaster for posting. B. TREASURER'S REPORT i. Nine new members for 2012 ii. 61 new members over the past 5 years. iii. Bekkie recommended that we increase efforts at recruiting “non-serious” local runners. a) Many runners are reluctant to join because they feel running clubs are only for serious training. C. PREVIOUS RACES i. Hoppin' Hodges a) Was successful. b) Had 35 runners, 10 walkers, 6 dogs. c) Raised over $600 for “Friends of Valley Falls”. ii. Bolton Road Race a) Dani sent thanks for making it a big success. b) Next year will try to have a masseuse. c) SCS was well represented.

IV. NEW BUSINESS A. UPCOMING RACES i. Bobby's Run a) Saturday, May 19th b) Three pre-registered already. c) Bekkie will post announcement online. d) Still needs volunteers for water stops. ii. Bolton Summer Series a) Dani all set. b) Bekkie will have Bill add it to the website. iii. Wickham Summer Series a) All set: Mike B. is organizing. b) Only change is that registrations will be sent directly to Bekkie. B. SUMMER PICNIC i. Will be Sunday, July 22 at the Kennedy compound. ii. Bekkie has added it to event calendar. C. CLOTHING REPORT i. Bekkie and Sue will take inventory prior to placing an order. ii. We are out of singlets, but have a surfeit of visors.

- 1 - D. MOONLIGHT MIDNIGHT RUN i. July 3rd is a full moon. ii. Bekkie proposes moonlight midnight madness fat ass 50 km run. iii. From Church St. lot on the rail trail. E. FIELD TRIP FUN RUNS i. Bekkie reported that Andy Zyrek suggested trying new rail trails (e.g., Farmington river, etc.) to break up the routine of regular runs. ii. Could put out an email. iii. Possibility of car-pooling. F. FUN RUN SCHEDULE i. New schedule, discussed last meeting, has been posted online.

V. NEXT MEETING A. Next meeting will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16th at the Hungry Tiger Restaurant, Manchester, CT.

VI. ADJOURNMENT A. Meeting adjourned at 3:00.
