Toronto, ON (June 4, 2012) – Bravo, Canada’s fastest growing specialty network, announced today that it has secured the exclusive Canadian rights to the powerful new drama POLITICAL ANIMALS, premiering Sunday, July 15 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. POLITICAL ANIMALS joins Bravo’s fresh-new summer lineup which includes highly- anticipated series DALLAS and new seasons of SUITS and WHITE COLLAR. Starring multiple Oscar-nominee Sigourney Weaver (Avatar) in her first regular television role, the provocative six-episode event drama follows a high-profile political dynasty seduced by influence and crippled by its lust for power. The POLITICAL ANIMALS cast lineup now features three actresses with a total of 15 Academy Awards nominations and wins among them, including Weaver, legendary actress Ellen Burstyn (Requiem For A Dream) and Vanessa Redgrave (NIP/TUCK), who is guest starring as a supreme court justice.

Additionally, DALLAS premieres Wednesday, June 13 at 9 p.m. ET, and Season 2 of the exciting dramas SUITS, starring Toronto’s Patrick J. Adams along with Gabriel Macht, and WHITE COLLAR starring Matt Bomer, premiere Monday, June 18 at 9 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET respectively on Bravo (visit bravo.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

“We are thrilled to bring POLITICAL ANIMALS featuring the brilliant Sigourney Weaver in her first regular TV role to Bravo,” said Catherine MacLeod, Vice-President, Specialty Channels, Bell Media. “It’s smart and sexy and it underlines Bravo’s priority to deliver big event, critically-acclaimed dramas to Canadians.”

In POLITICAL ANIMALS, President Paul Garcetti (Adrian Pasdar, HEROES), who defeated former First Lady Elaine Barrish (Weaver) in the presidential primary, appoints her as his Secretary of State. A smart man who uses every resource at his disposal to his advantage, he deftly employs Elaine's popularity to deflect unwanted attention. Elaine tries to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with crises of the State Department and a hungry D.C. journalist (Carla Gugino, ENTOURAGE) who is bent on destroying her. The project also stars legendary Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn, as well as James Wolk (SHAMELESS), Sebastian Stan (GOSSIP GIRL), Brittany Ishibashi (THE MENTALIST) and Ciarán Hinds (TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY). Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave guest stars. POLITICAL ANIMALS is from acclaimed television and film producers Greg Berlanti (BROTHERS & SISTERS) and Laurence Mark (Julie And Julia).
