We are a collaborative department with numerous opportunities for individuals to further their own research agenda and partner with others. We host numerous grants focused on improving outcomes for students, teachers, schools, and districts. We are seeking a colleague who will engage in research, grant writing, and teaching.

Our Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Foundational Studies at Boise State University is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track position in the area of Curriculum and Instruction at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank, with an emphasis in Science Education. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, maintaining an active scholarly agenda, and service are primary requirements for the position, in addition to supporting teacher preparation.

Boise State University has multiple programs in science and STEM disciplines, including a UTeach replication effort – IDoTeach, a graduate level mathematics specialist degree, a master’s of science in STEM education, and substantial mathematics and science education related grants from the National Science Foundation, Mathematics and Science Partnerships, and the U.S. Department of Education.

Required Qualifications:  Earned doctorate by August 2015 (excellent ABD candidates will also be considered) in curriculum and instruction, science education, STEM education or related focus;  Expertise in science education research, professional activity, and the development of teacher knowledge and inquiry;  Demonstrated excellence in K-12 science teaching.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in science teacher preparation, interest in teaching elementary science methods, strength in research methodology, and potential for obtaining external research funds.

Boise State University is the largest university in Idaho, with an enrollment of more than 20,000 students. The University is an NCATE/CAEP accredited institution located in Idaho’s capital city and largest metropolitan area, which serves as the government, business, high-tech, economic, health care, and cultural center of the state. The city is convenient to outdoor recreation including world-class whitewater rivers, skiing, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, and camping.
