Book Borrowing Contract

The key to success in school is reading and the greatest support for young children is to read with them daily at home.

Every Monday, your child will select a book of his/her choice from our classroom library. Books can be read to your child, with your child, or by your child. Vary the way books are read and interact with your child before, during, and after the reading. This makes the reading more enjoyable and motivating.

Book Borrowing Rules

1. Wash hands before reading 2. Protect books from younger children and pets. 3. Books are taken out on Mondays and MUST be returned on Fridays. Books can be reserved and renewed for the following week. 4. Books must be brought to and from school: a. Insert the book into the Ziploc bag b. Write a short reaction to the book on the “Comment Sheet” 5. A fee will be assessed for lost or damaged books.

Please review these rules with your child. Please sign below. It is very important that you talk with your child about the need to be responsible for the care of these books and what a contract means. Cut on the dotted line, return the bottom portion and keep these rules as a helpful guide.
