Jerry Gilpin Memorial Scholarship Cover Letter

Type of scholarships A onetime college education scholarship is available for tuition at a school of the student’s choice. The high school seniors from Riverside Schools must be accepted as a student by the institution of higher education. The selected student will receive a $1000 award.

Who may apply? Graduating High School seniors who attend Riverside High School may apply. Students eligible for this scholarship must be intending to major in the math or science field.

How do I apply? Applicants must complete a Jerry Gilpin Memorial Scholarship application form, submit a copy of your current transcripts and mail it to Riverside Educational Foundation, c/o Dr. James Sutton, Superintendent, P.O. Box 218, Carson, Iowa 51525. Applications are available from your Guidance Counselor or online at www.riversideschools.org. Students are encouraged to use the online form to complete their applications using a computer.

What is the Deadline? Annually completed scholarship applications are due no later than April 15th. If the application is hand delivered or submitted online, it must be received no later than 4:30 PM on April 15th. Applications mailed must be postmarked by April 15th and mailed to Riverside Educational Foundation, c/o Dr. James Sutton, Superintendent, P.O. Box 218, Carson, Iowa 51525.

Who selects the scholarship recipients? A designated Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipients at a meeting. The selection committee will review the applications without the names or addresses of the applicants being provided.

How is the scholarship recipient notified? The High School Guidance Counselor office will notify the recipient of their selection and school traditions of public announcements are observed. The scholarship is paid to the student’s account at the educational institution of the student’s choice at the end of the first semester.

What are my responsibilities as a Jerry Gilpin Educational Scholar? The student must be a full time student in good standing maintaining a C or better grade point average at the institution of higher education. An official college transcript of your first semester grades must be provided to Riverside Educational Foundation, c/o Dr. James Sutton, Superintendent, P.O.
