Religion 9- 3Rd Quarter Project

Religion 9- 3 rd Quarter Project

Due Wednesday March 24th in class (barring anymore snow days that will be Day 6 at 8:35am)

All answers need to be typed, in Times New Roman Font Size 12, with 1 inch margins on the page, using the proper heading. This project, will require your BIBLE, mind, soul, heart and conscience. Be sure to have all of these handy.

Follow the directions closely- this will allow you to experience scripture and prayer differently than you have before.

Week 1

1. Read Psalm 103:1-4, 6-8, 11. Read the psalm once, read it again slowly, then read the psalm a third time aloud to yourself. Answer this question completely: After reading the psalm 3 times, what image or phrase resonates with you?

2. Read Psalm 63. Read the psalm once, read it again slowly, then read the psalm a third time aloud to yourself. Answer this question completely: Can you name a moment when you can honestly speak the words of the psalmist, “The Lord is kind and merciful.” Or “O God, You are my God”?

3. Reflect: Take a moment and write down who God is in your life. What is your image of God?

4. Pray: Take 10 minutes and spend it in complete silence. Turn off your phone, your I-pod, your computer- unplug yourself. Spend that time listening to God and your heart. Write down what you noticed when you intentionally allowed yourself time to spend with God.

5. Act: Spend an evening or morning and write down what you are grateful for in your life. Seek God in the next 5 people you meet. If you assume that the other person is a kind and generous person, how does that change your perception of them?

Week 2

1. Read Psalm 23: 1-6. Read the psalm once, read it again slowly, then read the psalm a third time aloud to yourself. Answer this question completely: After reading the psalm 3 times, what image or phrase resonates with you?

2. Read Psalm 32. Can you name a moment when you can honestly speak the words of the psalmist, “Taste and see the goodness of the Lord” and “Happy are those whose sin is forgiven”?

3. Reflect: Write a prayer to God asking a blessing for those people who are important in your life.

4. Act: Take part in God’s creation- make a point one day to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. In the morning ask God to taste/see one good thing today. Before you go to bed, review you’re your day to recall anything you tasted or appeared as good. Write down those observations.

5. Act: Forgive someone as God forgives you. Next time someone says, “I’m sorry,” say “I forgive you” instead of “it’s ok”. Spend some time with someone significantly older or younger than you. Listen to their perspective about the goodness of people. Share your own with them. Write about this interaction.
