What’s New in RAM Commander version 7.51 This document describes new features of RAM Commander 7.51. The document covers only the features which were added to the RAM Commander 7.51. See RAMC_7_5_ReleaseNotes.doc and other previous documents for earlier versions new features.

2 Installation of RAMC 7.51

For the local stand-alone installation, run the RAMCW751.EXE downloaded from the A.L.D. web site (www.aldservice.com) , or run RAMC\setup.exe from the installation CD. For additional instructions and for client-server configuration, see User Manual: Installation guide.

Stress/Strength Analysis method

New mechanical reliability analysis method.

Stress/Strength analysis method determines the probability of failure based on the probability of stress exceeding strength.

Having distributions of Stress and Strength, we may calculate failure probability (Unreliability):

Having variation information between stress and strength (Factor of Safety n and Variations), we may also calculate the unreliability:

To select this method, change Failure Distribution to “Time-independent” and set Method to “Stress/Strength”:

Then press method button, method screen will appear:

4 Enter Stress and Strength data, using either Values data or Variations data. Press Ok. The Unreliability (UR) will be calculated and saved to the item data.

New electronics reliability prediction method Siemens SN 29500-2005-1 (new edition of Siemens SN 29000-1)

The method is a new updated release of Siemens SN 29000.

Reports in HTML format (all reports in HTML format, with possibility to export to MS Word and Excel and with easy upload to web)

 New report format allows much more convenient use of RAM Commander reports:  Select and copy any part of the report  Export tables to MS Excel  Open reports in MS Excel  Open reports in MS Word  Open reports in MS Internet Explorer  Reports are web-ready and can be placed on the web without any additional conversions. New RAM Commander supports two report formats: RTF and HTML. To switch between the report formats use Reports menu, Setup submenu.

All Product Tree-related reports – maximal depth is increased from 9 to 20

The previous RAM Commander versions had depth limitation of 9 levels. Now you may work with 200-levels deep product tree.

All diagrams (RBD, FTA, FMEA) - smooth zoom in / zoom out by pressing +/- on numeric keypad

Just press + and – keys on numeric keypad to change zoom of the diagram. Each keystroke zooms 10% in or out.

Import Wizard – Import Mechanical Item codes

R(t) data report for MTBCF calculation

New option allows printing R(t) calculation data in MTBCF calculation in RBD module. Press “Report” button on MTBCF screen to get the report.

GPRD Library Import Wizard

7 New Import Wizard allows data importing into GPRD library in customized user-defined format from ASCII, MS Excel or MS Access files. Wizard is used in the same way as Product Tree Import Wizard. Select “Library” menu and choose “Import Wizard” option in GPRD library mode to use it.

Functional Blocks – possibility to define custom values for FR ratio of components

To set custom FR ratio values for functional blocks, enter the parent assembly data screen, select FMECA sheet and choose “Underlying components – custom FR ratio” in “FR source” list. The Functional Blocks table will allow custom data input:

Functional Blocks – possibility to use FR of assembly (instead of using failure rates of parts)

To use FR rate of parent assembly for functional blocks, enter the parent assembly data screen, select FMECA sheet and choose “Current item – custom FR ratio” in “FR source” list. The Functional Blocks table will allow entering FR ratio for each Functional Block:

8 Isolation tree diagram for EE – items with undetected failures are taken into consideration

In the new version Isolation Tree takes into consideration also items with undetectable failures and includes such items into the isolation procedure:

In the new version Isolation Tree may display full test names in addition to test codes – optional:

9 Full-screen editing mode for Functional Blocks / parts matrix

Function Blocks screen has limited size and is not convenient when there are a lot of Functional Blocks or parts. To switch FB editing to full-screen mode right-click on the FB table and choose “Show full screen option” from the popup menu.

Display current FMECA phase on left button bar

In the new version of RAM Commander the currently selected FMECA phase is displayed on the FMECA button on the left button bar (only if there is more than 1 phase in the project):

Functional Blocks in reports – option to automatically fill Failure Cause for FB by parts linked to FB

Choose “Automatically fill Failure Cause for FB” on FMECA reports settings dialog if you wish to see a list of linked parts in “Failure Cause” field of FMECA report for Functional Block failures:

10 Massive Entry Mode for derating parameters

Massive Entry Mode in Derating analysis module was completely redesigned and now allows table input of derating parameters according to selected scenario, Item Code and Assembly:

Code, Name and Description fields of FTA gates and events were enlarged

Code field size is now 100 characters instead of 50, Name field length is 200 characters and Description length is 250 characters.

Possibility to add pictures to FTA remarks

New option allows embedding pictures into FTA remark elements to make FTA trees more clear and self – explaining:

To insert a picture press Picture button on Remark data screen.

Allow to stop MCS calculation (cancel button)

In RAM Commander 7.51 you may stop long calculation by pressing on Cancel button on the progress bar.

Safety module - Reports FHA, SSA: print for current item or for whole branch 11 Reports FHA and SSA may be printed for currently selected function only or for the whole branch.

Safety module - New report - Safety Assessment Results Summary

New report was developed – Safety Assessment Results Summary. Choose “Safety Assessment Results Summary” from Reports menu of Safety module:

FMEA data table – filter causes by Severity and by Occurrence*Detection

FMEA data table may be filtered by different conditions. When user enters the table (option “FMEA data table” in “Item” menu) filter screen appears:

Choose required filter and press Ok.

Multi-level analysis - possibility to get data for all Sub-FMEAs in a single report

FMEA reports may include current FMEA only or current FMEA with all it’s sub-levels (sub-FMEAs) – see option “All elements+sub-FMEA” in report conditions:

Possibility to customize field names for FMEA table and FMEA reports

FMEA table field names are now customizable and may be given user-defined names. Enter FMEA properties dialog and see “Custom FMEA field names” table. Use first table column to set display name, second column to set the first line of report column header and the third column to set the second line of report column header:

12 Decision Making Support - possibility to mark corrective actions as rejected and as executed

Two new action states added to recommended/selected actions list: Rejected (pink color) and Executed (gray color).

“Start new FMEA analysis cycle” function

The function allows starting new analysis cycle. It replaces initial S, O, D with resulting S,O,D, clears the resulting S,O,D, clears “Taken actions” information and selects selected actions as executed.

Possibility to display the FMEA data table with larger font

Chose “FMEA” menu, select “Large fonts” option to display FMEA data with larger font. Click the same option again to return to normal fonts.

Possibility to copy corrective action between causes

Copy and Paste option were added to the popup menu of Corrective Actions table on Decision Support screen. You may use these options to copy action data between different causes, items and projects.
